Student answer (Band 5.0)
In contemporary era, fast food has been increasing throughout the world. It is believed that, many companies manufacturing food and drink products contain high levels of sugar, while sugar products cause several health problems and should be ,made more expensive to encourage people to consume less sugar. I partially agree with this given statement.
To commence with, due to health problems, many people are eating fast food and drinks because they have a job and busy schedule in daily lives, they cannot make home food. Regarding health, governments should promote preventive healthcare facilities because regular medical check-ups, balanced diet, and physical activity can reduce illness and improve the overall well-being of citizens. For example, many companies and local markets should provide organic foods and drinks without high levels of sugar because people can live healthier well being.
On the other hand, sugar products may cause to any disease such as diabetes, heart problems, and fat because people should avoid expensive harmful high level of sugar products. In relation of increase health awareness many individuals are adopting healthier lifestyles and keep maintain physical health. For instance, governments should implement a strict new policy through local shops and companies because they can provide organic and fresh foods and drinks products to people. Additionally, some expensive products can encourage people because these can try this products and purchase.
To conclude, although many companies are manufacturing foods and drinks products with high level of sugar without quality checking, while some expensive products encourage young generation because they can avoid home made food instead of fast food.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt but fails to develop a clear, consistent argument. While you state you 'partially agree', the subsequent paragraphs do not clearly explain why or how increasing prices would be effective. Instead, the essay shifts focus to government healthcare and organic food, which are only tangentially related to the specific proposal of a sugar tax. The ideas are under-developed, and the conclusion is confusing, as it contradicts the premise of the prompt by suggesting that expensive products might encourage consumption. To improve, ensure each paragraph directly supports your stated position and provides logical reasoning for the specific policy mentioned in the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. Transitions like 'To commence with' and 'On the other hand' are used, but they do not always introduce ideas that follow logically from the previous sentence. For instance, the transition to the second paragraph does not effectively contrast the first. Additionally, some sentences are disjointed, such as 'In relation of increase health awareness many individuals are adopting healthier lifestyles and keep maintain physical health.' The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, which hinders the flow of your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'food and drink products' and 'health problems'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'cause to any disease' (should be 'cause diseases') and 'keep maintain physical health' (redundant). Some phrases are awkward, such as 'In contemporary era' (missing 'the') and 'well being' used as a noun phrase in an unnatural way. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'fiscal policy', 'public health initiatives', or 'nutritional value'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include missing articles ('In contemporary era'), incorrect verb forms ('cause to any disease'), and awkward sentence construction ('many companies and local markets should provide organic foods... because people can live healthier well being'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the writing from reaching a higher band score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage.
