Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argued that several processed food and beverages include more than enough glucose, which trigger various types of illness. Some people believe that sweet products should be made more costly to inspire people to ingest lesser sugar. I completely agree with this view because this types of goods does not give any benefits. Although it injurious to health.
The primary reason why I support this vies is that, it creates many medical problems for humans such as diabities and increase blood pressure in human body. This is because some of the drink product companies add high intake sugar for making a flavourable or tasty sodas and these companies do not follow any rules while making drinkables and it leads to disease . For example in Canada the company called coco-cola was very popular at that time and most of the people used to drink that soda. As a result many people sufferd from their health concerns.
Secondly, if we charge more about that items that contain excessive sugar. So the most of the citizens do not want to buy these sacchurated products because of the price. For instance, governments should increase the rate of sweet treats such as candy and pastries or maintain the glucose regularities in it. Also some of the goods should be banned for children and over aged people. Consequently, humans health maintain automatically.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that, some of the prepackaged food and potables involves elevated glucose which is extremely dangerous for humans health because it raises diabities. Therefore authorities should enhance cost for convenience food. Overall, this is a positive development.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of increasing taxes on sugary products. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention health issues like diabetes, the explanation is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. The example regarding 'coco-cola' is vague and does not effectively support the argument in a logical way. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed reasoning and specific, well-explained examples that directly link the economic intervention (taxation) to the desired behavioral change (reduced consumption). The conclusion restates the position but does not synthesize the arguments effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For instance, the transition 'Although it injurious to health' is a sentence fragment and does not connect logically to the previous thought. There is also an over-reliance on simple connectors like 'Secondly' and 'In conclusion'. The progression of ideas within paragraphs is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph where the link between the company example and the health consequences is not clearly articulated. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would significantly enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You use basic terms like 'sweet products' and 'drinkables' repeatedly. There are several instances of incorrect word choice or non-standard collocations, such as 'glucose regularities' and 'over aged people'. Additionally, there are spelling errors like 'diabities' (diabetes), 'sufferd' (suffered), and 'sacchurated' (saturated). To improve, you should focus on using more academic vocabulary and ensuring correct spelling. Expanding your range to include more precise terms related to health and economics would help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('this types of goods does not give'), missing articles, and incorrect preposition usage. For example, 'charge more about that items' should be 'charge more for those items'. There are also issues with sentence fragments and punctuation. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and pluralization would be a beneficial next step.
