Student answer (Band 5.0)

food and drink products contain high levels of sugar which lead to many health problems and to stop that sugary product it should be more expensive. While some argue that pric is not a matter to stop consuming sugar product.i strongly believe that hight pric method won't work.this essay will explain why i oppose this perspective topic.

the primary reason for my opinion is beacause most of product made by sugar.for example braid and even milk consist with it so if we over pric this product poeple will find a problem and deficulties when they go to the shop due to most of product made of sugar so it's ganna be expensive.

another key argument is that there is varios method to protect people from health problems caused by high levels of sugar meals like aware people about the bad consequences of diabets and encourage them with money to reduce the over concumation of sugar this will be more effective more that made sugar product more expensive.

in conclusion,i firmly disagree that high pric will be a solution to trackle health problems because all meals consist with sugar and thhat will affact the financial side of citizens.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you clearly state your position against the proposed tax, the arguments are underdeveloped. For instance, the point about bread and milk containing sugar is a good starting idea, but it lacks sufficient explanation or evidence to be persuasive. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesize the points made. To improve, you must expand on your arguments with more detailed examples and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for a full exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical. Transitions between ideas are often abrupt, such as the jump between the introduction and the first body paragraph. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the overall flow is hindered by the lack of development. To achieve a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') to connect your sentences and paragraphs more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. There are several spelling errors, such as 'pric' for 'price', 'braid' for 'bread', 'deficulties' for 'difficulties', and 'concumation' for 'consumption'. These errors, combined with limited word choice, restrict your ability to convey complex ideas precisely. You rely on simple phrasing, which limits the range of your expression. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to health, economics, and public policy, and pay closer attention to the spelling of common words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'most of product made by sugar'), incorrect word forms (e.g., 'over pric'), and punctuation errors. The sentence structures are mostly simple, with few attempts at complex sentences. When complex structures are attempted, they often contain errors, such as 'more that made sugar product more expensive'. To improve, practice using a wider variety of sentence structures, including subordinate clauses, and focus on correcting basic errors in tense and article usage.
