Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many people believe that Canned foods and drink products contain high levels of sugar which results in health problems. I disagree that sugary products should be made more expensive and harder to acquire to encourage individuals to consume less sugar.
Firstly, sugar is not just bad for the health but also good when taken in moderate quantity. I believe that increasing the cost of sugary products will not only restrict people that have contraindications for consuming them but also restrict those who need them for themselves. For instance, making it expensive for a diabetic patient also means making it inaccessible for a patient who needs Suger to function.
Secondly, increasing the price of products just because of its sugary content can reduce the number of consumers willing to purchase those items, making it eventually become a loss for those companies and businesses owners. There will be deflation in production, resulting in the business running down and eventually shutting down totally. Employees of these companies also loss their jobs on the process.
Furthermore, instead of increasing prices, companies can be advised to reduce the amount of Suger that is being put into those products instead like drinks, beverages, foods, etc. and government and other personnel are advised to host conferences, meetups, or even meetings to explain the advantages and disadvantages of the consumption of too much sugar in the body and how it can affect one’s health.
In conclusion, I deeply disagree with the notion of increasing the price of sugary products just to reduce consumption while individuals can be educated on the impact of this products instead.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed the prompt by clearly stating your disagreement with the proposal. You provided two main arguments: the potential negative impact on those who medically require sugar and the economic consequences for businesses and employees. While these points are relevant, the argument regarding diabetic patients is slightly illogical, as diabetics generally need to avoid sugar rather than consume it. The suggestion to educate the public is a good alternative solution, though it could have been developed with more depth. Overall, your position is consistent throughout the essay, and the main ideas are relevant to the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a distinct point. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' to signal the progression of your argument. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally imprecise. For example, in the second paragraph, the transition between the economic impact and the mention of 'deflation' is a bit abrupt. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the logical connection between your sentences is more seamless.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'contraindications', 'consumption', and 'economic consequences' (implied). However, there are some issues with word choice and consistency, such as the inconsistent capitalization of 'Suger' and 'sugar'. Additionally, some phrasing is slightly unnatural, such as 'making it eventually become a loss' or 'loss their jobs on the process'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure that your spelling and capitalization are consistent throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For instance, 'Employees of these companies also loss their jobs on the process' contains a verb form error ('loss' instead of 'lose') and a preposition error ('on' instead of 'in'). There are also minor punctuation and article usage issues. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will help improve your accuracy.
