Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against the proposed tax. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention that education is a better alternative to taxation and that taxes burden the poor, these points are not fully extended with concrete examples or logical depth. The argument remains somewhat repetitive, and the explanation of why taxes are 'not a solution' lacks specific evidence or a more nuanced discussion of the economic impact. To reach a higher band, ensure each paragraph provides a clear, well-supported argument that directly addresses the prompt's implications.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'To explain it more' and 'To justify it more' are repetitive and do not always create a natural flow between sentences. The progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing, such as 'giving outcomes of people is more necessary,' which is unclear. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the logical flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices and non-standard collocations, such as 'liquid items' instead of 'beverages' or 'sugary items should be cost sell at more cost.' You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle to express complex ideas with natural-sounding language. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to health, economics, and public policy, and avoid repeating the same phrases throughout the essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with article usage ('the major one is that, giving outcomes'), subject-verb agreement ('expensive sugar become'), and sentence structure ('rising in price of sugar is not a good'). While you attempt some complex structures, they are often marred by errors in syntax or word order. The punctuation is generally functional, but the overall control of grammar is inconsistent. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb tense would be beneficial.
