Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many manufactured drinks along with various types of food contain excessive amounts of sugar levels, due to which people are starting to suffer from various diseases such as obesity and other heart problems. In this regard people believe that increasing the retail prices of these commodities will encourage to shift towards the healthy alternatives. I largely agree with this notion and the points will be outlined in the forthcoming fragments before citing a conclusion.
Increased prices of such amenities will encourage people to shift towards healthy and cheap alternatives such as milk, water and other endless items. In addition, government could impose more tax on sugary food items which will not only help the government to raise more of the funds that could be used in development of schools and institutions by providing better quality food but will also allow middle class population to buy less of these products. Moreover, this solution is adapted by number of nations, which are receiving benefits as the population has became compositely healthier than before, which helps the nation to improve the demographic profile of the people of that particular nation
Even-though, raising the prices will surely encourage the people to buy less of these products, some other measures could also be taken into consideration by the government. For instance, government could force the companies to decrease the advertisement about their sugary food amenities which will allow people to know less about these products and ultimately they will purchase less of them. Also, the government of all the nations must ensure that teachings about healthy food are done in schools, colleges and other types of institutes to aware the children along with their parents about the harmful affects of excessive amount of sugar in the food.
To conclude, although raising the prices of sugary food and drinks sold by the manufacturers will encourage the people to purchase less of these unhealthy products yet other measures like reduced advertisement and educating population about affects of food will also help people to consume less sugar.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as the suggestion of taxation and educational campaigns. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the link between tax revenue and school development is mentioned but not fully explored in terms of how it directly impacts sugar consumption. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments could benefit from more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. Overall, the task is addressed adequately.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In addition', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, though some sentences are slightly clunky, such as 'In this regard people believe that increasing the retail prices of these commodities will encourage to shift towards the healthy alternatives'. Despite these minor issues, the progression of ideas is logical and easy to follow throughout the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common items like 'commodities', 'demographic profile', and 'amenities'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For instance, 'amenities' is used to refer to food products, which is not the correct context, and 'compositely healthier' is an awkward construction. Additionally, 'harmful affects' contains a common error where 'affects' (verb) is used instead of 'effects' (noun). While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include 'the population has became' (incorrect verb form), 'government could force the companies to decrease the advertisement about their sugary food' (missing articles and awkward phrasing), and 'to aware the children' (incorrect usage of 'aware' as a verb). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding the intended meaning. A greater focus on subject-verb agreement and article usage would improve the score.
