Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is undeniable that sugar used in many kind of foods and drinks. In this regards, Mostly manufactured used high level of sugar which causes many health problems. Sugary products should be made more expensive to encourage people to consume less sugar.

To commence with, there are many benefits of this notion. The prime one is health. High sugar intake can cause obesity and diabetes. It sugary products prices is increased. Mostly people choose healthy food rather than sugary food. The another one is that Government benefits because the government increased price of sugary products. Sugar taxes can generate government revenue. As a result, this money can be used for health care and health awareness camp campaigns.

On the other hand, there are many demerits of this notion.First and foremost is put effect on poor people because they may not be able to afford sugary products. Secondly, lack of knowlage. People who enjoy to eat sugary products. They still buy sugary products. To justify it, people who do not know about its drawbacks. Although sugary products prices are grown yet people still buy it.

In my opinion, Sugary products are harmful for people but it is not good solution to decrease sales of highly sugary products. Government should create awareness among individuals. Teacher should tell to their students about health issues which creates with sugary products. Children also tell these to their parents and their neighbours.

In conclusion, I disagree with this statements. Incresing price of sugary product is not a good solutions. Education, clear labels and reducing sugar in products are more effective solutions

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have identified both sides of the argument and provided a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the point about 'poor people' is mentioned but not fully explored in terms of the socio-economic impact. The arguments regarding government revenue and education are relevant but could be supported with more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. The response is consistent in its stance, but the depth of reasoning needs to be expanded to fully satisfy the requirements for a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices like 'To commence with', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the connection between ideas is weak, such as in the third paragraph where the transition between the impact on the poor and the lack of knowledge is abrupt. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and some sentences feel disjointed, which affects the overall progression of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'bad', and 'many', which limits the sophistication of your writing. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'health awareness camp campaigns' and 'it is not good solution'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is not sufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. Expanding your repertoire of academic collocations and synonyms would significantly improve this score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Mostly manufactured used high level'), article usage, and sentence fragments (e.g., 'It sugary products prices is increased'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing and capitalization. While you attempt complex structures, they are often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency.
