Student answer (Band 6.0)

Various health issues has now become comman in all individuals because the manufactured food and drinks occupied with high sugar level. In order to encourage people for consuming less sugar, should these products be made more costly. I totally agree with this statement because if sugary products would make expensive, only wealthy people can buy it and its demand would be lower in future.

Nowadays, almost every packaged food contain high sugar with preservatives and chemicals which have really drammatic effects on consumers. For the sake of getting promotion and taking benefits, majority of the food industries make food sugary, unhealthy and poismous for individuals. Too much high level of sugar can cause insulin spike in those individuals who consume these products. For instance, a case was witness in New Delhi at which 16-years old boy got cardiac-arrest after eating packaged food for a week, which cause blockage in the artries. Inspite of this, some other also problems arise from sugary products such as stones in panvreas, prolonged illness, obesity and tiredness. Hence, artificial sugar and sugary products are the only poisonous source for intakers if consumed in large quantities or continuously.

However, government should take initiatives to tackle this problem and to save people from sugar disaster. The Food Safety Standard Authorities of the countries have to prohibit the usage of artificial sugar in food and drinks; which is really harmful for consumers. If government banned on extreme sugar lurl products and higher the prices for other products which contain less sugar would act as a catalyst in this situation. Imposing taxes on sugary products would lower the demands, ultimately these product's production gets lowers and less people can able to buy these products. Hence, by increasing the cost of sugary foods, people would buy these and by introducing public seminars about healthy diet, people can encourage to consume less.

In conclusion, awareness could be spread by increasing the cost or organising public seminars about balanced diet and to tell people about drastic effect of packaged food items.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as the economic impact of taxation and the role of government regulation. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The example provided regarding the boy in New Delhi is anecdotal and lacks a clear connection to the specific argument about taxation. Furthermore, the argument that only wealthy people would be able to afford sugary products is a bit simplistic. To reach a higher band, ensure that arguments are more thoroughly explored and that examples directly support the main points rather than relying on extreme or isolated cases.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a central theme. There is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the phrase 'Inspite of this, some other also problems arise'. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, and some transitions between sentences feel forced. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the flow between ideas could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words that connect arguments more naturally rather than relying on simple connectors like 'Hence' or 'However' at the start of every paragraph.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, but there are several instances of word-choice errors and non-standard collocations. For example, 'occupied with high sugar level' is unnatural, as is 'poismous' (likely a spelling error for poisonous) and 'intakers'. The phrase 'sugar lurl products' is unclear and appears to be a typographical error. While the student attempts to use more academic vocabulary like 'catalyst' and 'prohibit', the overall range is limited by frequent errors in word formation and collocation. To improve, focus on learning the correct context for academic terms and proofreading for basic spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('Various health issues has now become'), incorrect verb forms ('if sugary products would make expensive'), and awkward phrasing ('less people can able to buy'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of semicolons and commas. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader and indicate a lack of control over complex structures. More attention to basic sentence construction and verb tense consistency is required.
