Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 111 words long. Consequently, the ideas are significantly underdeveloped and the task is only partially addressed. While you state your position clearly, the arguments lack the necessary depth, supporting evidence, and examples required for a full response. The essay ends abruptly, leaving the argument incomplete. To improve, you must expand on your points by providing detailed explanations and concrete examples to reach the required length and demonstrate a more thorough exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. There is no introduction, body paragraphs are not properly developed, and there is no conclusion. The progression of ideas is disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is minimal. For instance, the transition between the health problems mentioned and the argument for price increases is abrupt. To improve, you should organize your essay into clear paragraphs: an introduction, two body paragraphs with distinct arguments, and a conclusion. Use linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition' to connect your ideas more logically.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive. You rely on simple terms like 'good', 'bad', and 'things'. There is little attempt to use more sophisticated or academic vocabulary appropriate for an IELTS Task 2 essay. Additionally, there are some errors in word choice, such as 'not good for heath' (should be 'health'). To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'processed foods', 'nutritional value', 'fiscal policy', or 'public health initiatives', and ensure you are using them in the correct context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains several grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'some does not' instead of 'some do not') and punctuation errors. The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited use of complex sentences. There are also issues with capitalization, such as 'People' in the middle of a sentence. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement. Once you are confident, try to incorporate more complex structures, such as relative clauses or conditional sentences, to demonstrate a wider range of grammatical control.
