Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 182 words long and remains unfinished. Because the essay is incomplete, the position is not fully developed, and the arguments regarding the economic impact of food industries are somewhat tangential to the core prompt about sugar taxation. While you present a clear stance against the tax, the lack of depth and the failure to complete the task significantly limit the score. To improve, you must ensure you address all parts of the prompt with sufficient supporting detail and complete your conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows some attempt at paragraphing, but the progression of ideas is disjointed. The transition between the introduction and the second paragraph is abrupt, and the use of cohesive devices is limited. For example, phrases like 'Articulate the landscape of food market' are grammatically incorrect and do not function as effective transitions. The logical flow is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text, making it difficult to follow the development of your argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the overall structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is somewhat limited and contains several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'realation' (relationship), 'isolin' (insulin), and 'impoverised' (impoverished). While you attempt to use some academic vocabulary like 'detrimental impact' and 'undermine the demand', the frequent errors in spelling and collocation impede the clarity of your writing. To reach a higher band, focus on using precise terminology and ensuring correct spelling, as well as expanding your range of vocabulary to express complex ideas more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally make the meaning difficult to grasp. Examples include 'Implementing in prices will not be helpful' (should be 'Increasing prices'), 'there products has travel' (their products have traveled), and 'cause massive loss all structured chain' (loss across the entire chain). There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the existing sentences often suffer from subject-verb agreement issues and incorrect preposition usage. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be a beneficial first step toward improvement.
