Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the health impacts of sugar and the proposal to increase prices. However, the development is inconsistent. While you mention the health risks, the argument regarding the price increase is only briefly touched upon in the final paragraph rather than being integrated into a structured argument. The position is generally clear, but the ideas lack the depth and logical progression required for a higher band. To improve, ensure each body paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt and provides a clear, logical link between the problem (sugar consumption) and the proposed solution (taxation).

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'In the one hand' and 'In the other hand' (should be 'On the one hand'). There are also issues with referencing; for example, 'those product' lacks a clear antecedent. The flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of your argument. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will help create a smoother, more logical structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'food and drink' and 'sugary items' throughout the text. There are also several instances of awkward word choices and collocations, such as 'defect on individuals health' (should be 'affect') and 'artificial glucose' (likely meaning 'insulin'). Some phrases are non-standard, such as 'high developed people'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise academic vocabulary and ensure that your word choices are contextually appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the essay, including subject-verb agreement issues ('individuals... has'), missing articles ('on blood' instead of 'in the blood'), and incorrect word forms ('lazziness' is misspelled, 'healty' is misspelled). Sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when you attempt complex constructions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for common spelling and punctuation errors.
