Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which severely limits the development of your ideas. While you state a position, the essay is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence, preventing a full exploration of the topic. You mention the health benefits of reducing sugar, but the argument lacks the necessary depth and supporting examples required for a Task 2 essay. To improve, you must ensure you complete the task by writing at least 250 words and providing a balanced, fully developed argument that addresses all parts of the prompt, including a clear conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, such as using an introductory paragraph and starting a body paragraph. However, the abrupt ending makes it impossible to assess the overall coherence of the piece. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes inaccurate, such as the misuse of 'however' at the start of the third sentence. Paragraphing is present but underdeveloped due to the incomplete nature of the text. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, fully realized main idea.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication, but it lacks the precision and range expected for higher bands. There are several errors in word form and collocation, such as 'industries is widely regarded as foundation' (should be 'industry is regarded as a foundation') and 'foods and drinks producing companies' (should be 'food and drink manufacturing companies'). You also repeat basic terms like 'unhealthy' and 'sugar'. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and ensure you use the correct grammatical forms of the words you choose.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The text contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('industries is', 'companies that contains'), missing articles ('as foundation', 'as a central topic'), and punctuation errors, such as the lack of capitalization at the start of sentences. The sentence structures are relatively simple, and the attempt at complex sentences is often marred by errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, consistent capitalization, and the correct use of articles before nouns.
