Student answer (Band 5.5)
A plenty of industries produced food and drink products contain high amounts of sugar, which causes many health issues. It is considered by some that sugary goods should be made more costly to discourage individuals to eat sugar. From my perspective, I agree with the statement as people tend to lead a healthy lifestyle as well as they are able to save money.
To begin with, human being can be fit physically without consuming tremendous amounts of sugar because sugar is harmful for human's body. Although sugar is essential element for cooking as wall as making drink, it can play significant affect of human's health such as obesity. For instance, in Bangladesh, a considerable number of residents lead a peaceful life, since they avoid excessive sugar consuming. Consequently, they can be productive to carry out work a long period of time.
Furthermore, people can save money because if the price of sugar has increased rapidly, they would not like to purchase it as an expensive product. Ignoring sugar not only allows individuals to save money but also provides them a healthy diet. For example, people who are being affected by different diseases, can get benefits to avoid a high amount of sugar. Hence, they can invest some money in different sectors, so they can be affluent in a short period of times.
In conclusion, several processed food and drink goods contribute huge levels of sugar, which causes many health problems. A significant number of citizens argue that sugary products have to manufacture more expensive to encourage them to use less sugar so that individuals can create a peaceful lives and they save huge amounts of currency

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by stating a clear position of agreement regarding the taxation of sugary products. Main ideas are presented, such as promoting a healthier lifestyle and saving money, and they are supported with reasons and examples, such as the mention of residents in Bangladesh. However, some of the supporting ideas and examples, like the Bangladesh example, lack sufficient detail and logical connection to the specific economic measure being proposed. The ideas tend to be somewhat repetitive rather than fully extended, which aligns the response with a Band 6. The position remains consistent throughout, but the depth of task response is limited by underdeveloped examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, and standard paragraphing is used. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical, with awkward transitions like 'To begin with, human being can be fit physically' and repetitive use of cohesive markers such as 'furthermore' and 'consequently'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in pronoun ambiguity and connective usage. Paragraphing is present, but internal logical progression within paragraphs lacks smooth transitions, leading to a Band 6 performance.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'discourage individuals', 'tremendous amounts', and 'affluent'. However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'A plenty of industries produced food', 'play significant affect of human's health', and 'sugar consuming' instead of sugar consumption. Word formation errors, such as 'manufacture more expensive' instead of manufactured, also occur. These errors do not seriously impede communication, placing the vocabulary at a Band 5.5, rounded to 6.0 based on positive assessment of adequate range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing dependent clauses such as 'although sugar is essential element...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('a plenty', 'human's body', 'significant affect'), pluralization ('human being', 'a long period of time'), and word forms ('manufacture more expensive'). While these errors do not completely prevent the reader from understanding the main message, they occur with enough frequency to restrict the score to Band 5.0.
