Student answer (Band 5.0)

Numerous foods and drinks products contain high level of sugar, which has many health problems. Sugary product should be made more expensive to encourage individuals to consume less sugar. I totally disagree with this development, most people depends on sugar to survive and it will reduce the sales of marketers.

Dependent of sugar is reasons sugary products should not be made expensive. Although sugar consumption has several disadvatages to physical health, majority of individuals still need to survive and live healthy. For example, considerable proportion of elderly residents have a health issue call low sugar and consumption of excess sugar is one of the ways to control it, As a result of this making sugary products more expensive may result in less affordability of their medications ( commodities witrh excess sugar).

Reduction in sales of marketers is another reason to consider. Most individuals depends on production and of sweet product such as candy increase in price may cause lack of sales. Fpr instances, if the prices of sugary commodities are increased the sales of markerter will decreaced. As a result of this development most residents may lose their bussiness, sale and employment.

In conclusion, although sugary product has several disadvantages to people health, it also has some benefits such as reduction in sales of marketers and it is also a means of survive for elder people suffering from low suger.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response presents a clear position against increasing the price of sugary products, arguing that it affects manufacturers and individuals who rely on sugar for medical needs. However, the task is under-length, containing only 229 words compared to the required 250-word minimum, which places a ceiling on the Task Achievement score. Furthermore, some ideas are poorly supported or logically flawed, such as the claim that price increases would lead to a reduction in sales as a benefit, or that elderly residents use sugar as a primary medication for low blood sugar. The arguments are underdeveloped and repetitive, leading to a Band 5.0 outcome according to the official descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text is organized into basic paragraphs with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion. However, the progression of ideas is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and confusing logic, such as concluding in the final paragraph that a benefit of sugary products is the reduction in sales of marketers. Cohesive devices are used mechanically and sometimes incorrectly, such as 'Fpr instances' and repetitive sentence openings. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and paragraphing, while present, fails to maintain a smooth flow of ideas throughout the text. This aligns best with the Band 5.0 descriptor profile.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, such as 'foods and drinks products', 'high level of sugar', and 'sugary product'. There are several noticeable word-choice and collocation errors, including 'health issue call low sugar', 'commodities witrh excess sugar', 'production and of sweet product', 'lack of sales', 'markerter will decreaced', and 'means of survive for elder people'. These errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader and reflect a limited lexical range suitable for Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control is weak. There are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text, such as 'Numerous foods and drinks products contain high level', 'most people depends on sugar', 'Dependent of sugar is reasons', 'majority of individuals still need to survive', and 'low suger'. Subject-verb agreement errors, incorrect pluralization, and word-form errors occur in almost every sentence. Because these errors are frequent and occasionally obscure the intended meaning, the performance falls squarely within the Band 5.0 category.
