Student answer (Band 5.5)
Majority of the processed edibles have a large sugar volume as ingredient which leads to severe health risks. To reduce the sales of such product they should be more in price in comparison to the sugar free. There should be some implementations for minimizing the consumption of items containing sugar.
In many areas of world sugar is considered as the white poison as it have many devastating effects on human health. In children the sugar is the culprit of tantrums, hyperactivity, and so many neurodivergent diseases. moreover the intake of sugar from a very early age could be the reason for obesity and diabetes. These impacts can badly influence the future of the those kids. Many awareness programs are now being introduced to limit the consumption of sugar. WHO is making parents educated about the negative attributes of providing sugar from a very early age.
Even though people wants to and are shifting towards the zero sugar or natural sweetener in their daily life, the high prices of the sugar free or organic products is a very big limitation. food items which are sugar free are rare to find especially in a developed country. For example, in Pakistan there are very few options for sugar free products and those which are available are very high in prices. One of the reason of that they are being imported from other countries and those which are being manufactured locally are rare.
Government along with the health workers should make some agreements with the producers to regard the reduction in rates. It maybe a very huge step for industries to shift the prices of a large number of sugary items from higher to low rate as many people are still reluctant in terms of avoiding sugar.
It will be a great initiative towards the development of a healthy community.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the role of sugar in health problems and whether sugary products should be made more expensive. You take a stance supporting higher prices for sugary goods and touch upon the difficulty of finding affordable sugar-free alternatives, particularly in developing countries like Pakistan. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and lacks depth. For instance, the discussion on making agreements with producers in the conclusion is brief and lacks elaboration. While all parts of the prompt are addressed, the ideas would benefit from more extended support and deeper exploration to reach higher band levels. Overall, the task is adequately handled, earning a solid Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is divided into four paragraphs, showing an attempt at logical organisation. However, progression is sometimes hindered by abrupt shifts between ideas and weak cohesive ties. For example, the sentence "In many areas of world sugar is considered as the white poison..." starts the second paragraph without a smooth transition from the introductory points. Furthermore, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as "the future of the those kids" and "One of the reason of that". Cohesive devices are used, but sometimes mechanically or inaccurately. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion requires better linking to ensure a smoother flow of ideas throughout the response, corresponding to a Band 5.5.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your main arguments about health risks and prices. You attempt some less common items such as "neurodivergent diseases", "hyperactivity", and "organic products". However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation inaccuracies throughout the text, such as writing "processed edibles" instead of 'processed foods', "large sugar volume as ingredient" instead of 'high sugar content', and "more in price" instead of 'more expensive'. There are also occasional errors with singular/plural forms and prepositions. While meaning is generally clear, the lexical limitations and inaccuracies place this response at a Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as "Even though people wants to and are shifting towards the zero sugar..." and "Government along with the health workers should make some agreements...". However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are several frequent errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ("people wants", "sugar is the culprit... and so many"), missing articles ("in many areas of world"), and incorrect prepositional usage ("in terms of avoiding sugar"). These errors can cause occasional difficulty for the reader, although they rarely impede overall communication entirely, reflecting the characteristics of a Band 5.0.
