Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is often argued that manufactured food and products contains high sugar which causes many health related problems such as blood pressure and sugar level which is injurious to health. In my opinion, i completely agree with this view because sugar is an addiction and sugar intake increases the weight which affects in our physical well-being.
First and futhermore, Sugar is an addition. For instance, Many asian countries offers tea or cold drinks to their guest whenever they visits their home which shows how much sugar intake is taken in one day of average Asian peoples. Daily they drink tea which contains lots of sugar in it. They are affecting their health by excessive intake of sugar in their foods. As a outcome, They are suffered by many heart problems and diseases.
Futhermore, In recent scientific research conducted by Canada highlights that sugar contains harmful chemical which contains more amount of fat in it which cause fast aging to the youngsters. So, i strongly encourage resident individuals to consume less amout of sugar, For this, Authories should impose high amount of taxes in sugary products which will make it expensive and popuplation will strugle to buy it.
Concequently, Goverment should aware their citizens about the health problems which is caused due to the consumption of sugar.
In conclusion, there are many arguments in this point of views, but i stronglely believe that goverments should impose high amount of taxes for sugary products which makes it expensive and it will encourage people to consume less sugar.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by clearly taking a stand on whether sugary products should be made more expensive through taxation to reduce consumption. The position is maintained throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the writer mentions that sugar is an addiction and uses the example of Asian cultures serving tea, but the connection to taxation or pricing is only briefly touched upon at the end. While the core arguments regarding health and taxation are present, they lack deep extension and rely on over-generalised claims, which places the performance firmly in Band 6.0 according to the task response descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, dividing the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion adequately. However, cohesive devices are often mechanical, faulty, or incorrectly used. For instance, the transition 'First and futhermore,' is awkward, and terms like 'Concequently' contain spelling errors. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as pronoun use referring back to abstract nouns. Furthermore, paragraph transitions lack smooth logical progression, making the structure feel somewhat disjointed, which aligns with the Band 5.0 descriptors for cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'injurious', 'excessive intake', and 'authorities'. However, there are frequent errors in word choice, morphology, and spelling throughout the response, such as 'addition' instead of 'addiction', 'futhermore', 'popuplation', 'strugle', 'Goverment', and 'aware' used as a verb meaning 'raise awareness'. These lexical errors and awkward collocations occasionally impede communication and restrict the score to a Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some capability in structuring sentences. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in punctuation, subject-verb agreement, and clause structures (e.g., 'manufactured food and products contains', 'which shows how much sugar intake is taken', 'They are suffered by many heart problems'). Punctuation errors are also noticeable, such as lowercase 'i' used as a pronoun and commas placed incorrectly before conjunctions. Because these frequent errors cause occasional difficulty for the reader, a Band 5.0 is appropriate.
