Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's rapidly evolving world, consuming nutritional Meals alongwith drinking has become an indispensable part of human lives. Meanwhile, a substantial number of individuals assert that myriad of produced food and drinks comprise a wn excessive amounts of sugar, which contibute to numerous health difficulties, Therefore, they believe, sugary products ought to be sold at high prices. I largely disagree with the above statement,

To commence with, proponents reckon that if sugary products are sold at an expensive rates, a significant proportion of consumers will not purchase sugary items. Since a vast amount of people will try to save their disposable income, particularly adolescents and working professionals. Consequently, they will turn to consume nutritional meals. Admittedly, a salient advantage is by pursuading people from consuming sugary drinks and cuisines, a considerable amount of chronic illnesses can be prevented. As a consequence, this can alleviate the significant burden on healthcare sector.

By contrast, a growing proportion of population contend that, this is not a viable approach because many people will not cease buying the sugary items, as they are accustomed to eating it. Therefore, authorities ought to adopt an alternative solutions including education, inexpensive nutritional meals and awareness campaigns. Since inhabitants and general public are aware regarding deletrious impacts of sugary items, they will be cautious concernig their medication. By encouraging academic institutions to include standardised meals programs, the prevalence of this phemonen can significantly decreased, as children will know what they are eating from an early age. Moreover, a considerble ratio of humans including destitues and disadvantaged communities cannot afford nutrients: protein, vitamin and B12. If they are offered these products at a cheaper rate, they may turn to cuisines and juices, that benetis their health. For instance, according to a survey conduted by the organisation called WFH- World Food Heritage, demonstrated the ratio of delighted and healthy residents in Switzerland is more than 75%, this is because the state focuses on providing not only beneficial food products but also better sanitation.

To conculde, although fining stricter penalties and taxes can curb tiny fraction of people from eating sugary items, a wide amount of individuals will still allocate thier disposable income into these products. Therefore, educating, inexpensive nutritional meals, pubilic aewareness campaign would be more effcetive solution.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, stating that the writer largely disagrees with the proposed solution. Main ideas are presented and supported with relevant arguments, such as the economic impact on disadvantaged communities and the preference for alternative educational strategies. For instance, the student explores both sides by discussing the arguments of proponents who favour higher prices before introducing counter-arguments regarding alternative solutions. While some ideas, such as the Switzerland survey example, are slightly underdeveloped and contain generalised claims, the response successfully meets the core requirements of Task Achievement. The position is maintained consistently from the introduction to the conclusion, ensuring a well-rounded discussion of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is divided into logical paragraphs, beginning with an introduction, moving through body paragraphs that contrast opposing viewpoints, and ending with a clear conclusion. Cohesive devices are used throughout the text, such as "To commence with", "By contrast", and "To conculde". However, cohesion can sometimes feel mechanical, and referencing is occasionally imprecise, as seen in sentences like "this is because the state focuses on providing..." where the antecedent lacks absolute clarity. Paragraphing is generally used appropriately to separate distinct arguments, but internal transitions between sentences could be smoother to enhance the overall flow and progression of ideas across the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student attempts a range of vocabulary appropriate for an academic discussion, including less common lexical items such as "indispensable", "disposable income", "chronic illnesses", and "disadvantaged communities". However, there are notable lexical and spelling errors that affect precision, such as "nutritional Meals alongwith drinking", "comprise a wn excessive amounts", "contibute", "pursuading", "deletrious", "phemonen", and "conculde". While these errors do not impede overall communication, they demonstrate a lack of consistent control over less common vocabulary and word choice, which prevents the writing from achieving a higher band score in this category.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, attempting complex forms such as conditional clauses ("If they are offered these products at a cheaper rate, they may turn to cuisines...") and relative clauses. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in punctuation, article usage, preposition selection, and subject-verb agreement, such as "an expensive rates", "a vast amount of people" (when referring to countable individuals), and "educating, inexpensive nutritional meals, pubilic aewareness campaign would be". Punctuation is also faulty in places, including unnecessary commas and run-on structures. These errors require some effort from the reader to parse, though they do not completely obscure the intended meaning.
