Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by clearly stating an opinion on whether sugary products should be made more expensive. The student provides a clear position from the beginning and supports it with relevant ideas regarding health problems, obesity, and public awareness. For instance, the writer notes that 'implementing a 'sugar tax' on manufactured products helps consumers form healthy habits' and discusses how higher prices force healthier choices. While some supporting points, such as the discussion on work performance and metabolism, are slightly repetitive, the main arguments are sufficiently developed to meet the requirements for a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt at paragraphing, separating the introduction, body points, and conclusion. However, the progression between ideas is sometimes hindered by mechanical transitions and abrupt shifts. For example, starting the second body paragraph with 'Furthermore, I agree...' introduces a redundant expression of agreement midway through the text. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and some sentences feel disjointed. Cohesive devices are used, but they are sometimes repetitive or awkwardly placed, such as 'Inorder' and 'Initally', placing this performance firmly in the Band 6 category.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'chronic diseases', 'metabolism', and 'un-processed foods'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'Inorder', 'Governmnet', 'healtheir', 'campaings', and 'Initally'. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they restrict the lexical score. Collocations are occasionally imprecise, such as 'glorify societal well being', which prevents the vocabulary from reaching a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating conditional and concessive structures like 'Although a sedentary lifestyle contributes heavily to preventable diseases, public awareness campaigns can significantly improve societal well being.' However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors that affect accuracy, such as agreement errors ('manufactured foods... affects') and missing commas or incorrect capitalization ('In conclusion, Making all the manufacturing sugary products...'). Despite these flaws, the meaning remains clear, supporting a Band 5.5 score.
