Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the present era, people like to try different types of cuisines and soft drinks. They are consuming the fast food packets and drinks as part of their daily routine. Their is growing concern about that the companies, who manufacture the food and drinking products contain high levels of sugar, which causes many health problems. The government are thinking to apply a new law to increase the price of sugary items to encourage people to consume less sugar. I disagree with this statement, as people need to be discipline towards their health.
In contemporary society, many youngsters and adult people like to eat the junk food in their daily life. The main reason behind is that, due to their fast-paced life style they do not have a time to cook meal, and they just want to be relax on weekends. Although, they also preferred home cooked food, but due to their usual routine they do not have any choice and have to eat the food packets. In India, mostly the elder people like to drink soda, after having their dinner, they believe that this soda helps them to digest the food. But they do not read the contents and then face the health issues. For example, the UNICEF had done a survey and found that around 70 percent of people in the world facing the obesity problems.
on the other hand, the government are trying to implement some rules related to public health, they are checking every food items of each stores with proper lab test. For the sake of public health, they are thinking to increase the cost of dairy products, which contains sugar. Due to this reasons, the people have to pay more tax and this is not the proper solution. Instead the government has to organize some food campaigns, to aware about the causes of food and its side effects on people health.
In conclusion, the people have to take care about their health and need to have a proper diet balanced food. Instead of increasing the food products price, the government has to arrange some health campaigns, so that people should aware about and follow them. This will be the proper solution for them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position of disagreement with the idea of raising prices on sugary products. The writer provides reasons, such as the need for personal discipline and government education campaigns instead of taxation. However, the development of ideas lacks depth and contains tangents. For instance, the reference to UNICEF statistics regarding obesity is somewhat disconnected from the core argument about taxation, and the example regarding elderly people drinking soda in India is a minor point that does not fully substantiate the main thesis. Furthermore, some parts of the discussion about food manufacturing and public health checks are slightly confused. While the writer addresses all parts of the task, the support and extension of ideas remain somewhat limited and general, placing the performance firmly in the Band 6 category.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay is organized into four paragraphs with a clear overall structure including an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Logical progression is attempted, but some transitions feel mechanical or abrupt, such as 'on the other hand' used in the third paragraph to introduce government health measures. Paragraphing is generally appropriate, grouping ideas about lifestyle, government rules, and conclusions together. However, cohesive referencing is occasionally faulty, as seen in sentences like 'Due to this reasons, the people have to pay more tax' where plural/singular agreement in reference breaks down. While the overall arrangement allows the reader to follow the writer's line of thought, the management of cohesive devices and logical links is somewhat inconsistent, aligning with Band 6 descriptors.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating everyday concepts and attempting some less common lexical items such as 'fast-paced lifestyle' and 'public health'. However, there are frequent inappropriate word choices and collocations that reveal limitations. Examples include 'Their is growing concern' (typographical and lexical confusion with 'There'), 'adult people', 'food packets', and 'diet balanced food'. Additionally, morphological errors appear, such as using 'aware' as a verb ('to aware about') instead of 'raise awareness'. While the vocabulary used is sufficient to convey the main arguments without heavily impeding communication, these noticeable lexical inaccuracies and awkward phrasings restrict the score to Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures with relative clauses ('companies, who manufacture...') and conditional or concessive clauses ('Although, they also preferred...'). However, grammatical accuracy is weak throughout the text. There are recurring errors in articles ('the UNICEF', 'people health'), subject-verb agreement ('the government are', 'food items of each stores'), and prepositional use ('pay more tax'). Punctuation errors also occur, such as unnecessary commas interrupting natural phrasing ('Behind is that, due to their...'). Because errors are frequent across both simple and complex structures and occasionally strain the reader's comprehension, the performance fits the Band 5 descriptor.
