Student answer (Band 5.0)
Sugar is a basic element in our diet. Many prepared food and beverage products consist high level of sugar, which cuases many body problems. Sugary products should be made expensive to encourage people to consume less sugar. I have a mixed opinion with this statement. I will explain causes and effects in detail.
To begin, there are many effects of high levels of sugar on health proplems. First of all, this can be impact on heart diseases, high blood pressure, stomach problems as well as impact on cholesterol levels. In addition, when people use the sugar in daily life in any item like these are in milk, tea, and sweets they face the many healthy issues such as headache, kidney and liver. Furthermore, many ratio of children eat the chocolate and bubbles. These items have range of sugar and these things affects on teeth.
Howevere, there are several causes of much levels of sugar. Majority of people do prefer the sweet things and do not like the salty items. Due to this preference of high range of sugar food then they faced body issues. Moreover, they take the much sugar in food such as in the bread form. When they use the more sugar in any cold drinks they feel very enjoyable and comfort.
To conclude with my personal opinion, overall, in the form of food and drink products contain high levels of sugar causes health problems. People should be aware of these items and should be follow the salty items. These items would be better for healthy life as well as should be motivate people to use less sugar.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response attempts to address the prompt regarding whether sugary products should be made more expensive. However, the position is somewhat confusingly stated as having a 'mixed opinion', and the development lacks clear focus on the economic proposal in the prompt. Instead of discussing taxation, pricing, or economic discouragement, the writer spends significant portions of the body paragraphs listing health problems (such as 'heart diseases, high blood pressure, stomach problems') and discussing personal preferences for sweet foods. While all parts of the task are touched upon, the ideas are limited and under-developed due to frequent digressions into causes and effects rather than arguing for or against the price hike. Consequently, the task response aligns closely with Band 5.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, which helps establish a basic structure, including an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. Cohesive devices are frequently mechanical, inaccurate, or unnatural, such as 'To begin, there are many effects...' and 'Howevere, there are several causes...', alongside spelling errors in transition words. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the connection between sentences within paragraphs lacks smooth logical flow, particularly in the third paragraph where the discussion shifts abruptly between preferences and food items. This level of organisation and cohesion is characteristic of Band 5.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is quite basic and repetitive. The writer frequently relies on simple terms like 'sugar', 'food', 'drink', and 'health problems', and makes numerous noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'consist high level of sugar' instead of 'contain high levels of sugar', 'cuases' (causes), 'proplems' (problems), and 'many ratio of children eat'. There are also awkward phrases like 'bubbles' likely intended for 'bubble tea' or similar, and 'follow the salty items'. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey a basic meaning, the frequency of errors places it firmly at Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but many of the complex structures are faulty or ungrammatical. Examples include 'when people use the sugar in daily life in any item like these are in milk, tea, and sweets they face the many healthy issues' and 'Due to this preference of high range of sugar food then they faced body issues.' There are frequent errors in verb tenses, prepositions, articles, and word forms (e.g., 'healthy issues' instead of 'health issues', 'much levels' instead of 'high levels'). These errors are frequent and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, matching the Band 5 descriptors.
