Student answer (Band 5.5)
Now a days people usually eat and drink the products which are made in factories but these products also contain high qauntity of sugar. The increasing price of these products have good impacts on people to consume less paked food. Some people needs the food which did not required a lot of time for their making and in some areas the paked food is very important that is why I disagree with this statement which i explain paragraphs below.
To begin, there are many people who are sometimes busy in their working and they have no time to spend on making food and they purchased paked food at any price. For example people who are busy in offices thats why they have no time to make their food so in this condition they need paked food. In addition , there are some areas where the fresh food is not availabe and the people depend on the paked food. If we increased the price of this food then these people may face dificulties. Furthermore, we can give awareness to people to eat less paked food instead of increasing their prices. Government also take an action on it and put instructions on companies to use less chemicals and sugar to decrease if effects on health. The increasing price just effects the poor people.
To conclude, the paked food have bad effects on human health due to high levels of sugar. It is important that we would give awareness to people about the effects of it on human health and government also take an action on it to put restriction on factories to use less sugar and chemicals in their products instead of increasing the price of it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position of disagreement regarding the taxation of sugary products, arguing instead for public awareness and government restrictions. However, the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. For instance, the points about busy office workers and areas lacking fresh food are introduced but not fully extended or supported with deeper reasoning. While the writer touches upon the socioeconomic impact on poor people, the arguments lack sufficient elaboration, leading to a partial treatment of the task. To move to a higher band, the writer needs to explore their ideas in greater depth, providing robust explanations and well-developed examples that directly strengthen their central position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some basic organisation present, with the essay divided into an introduction, body paragraph, and conclusion, and the use of basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin', 'For example', and 'To conclude'. However, the overall progression is not always clear, and the connections between sentences can feel mechanical or repetitive, particularly with the frequent reuse of phrases like 'paked food' and 'this food'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal flow within paragraphs lacks smooth transitions. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as pronoun use that lacks precise antecedents. To achieve a higher band, the writer must ensure a more logical progression of ideas throughout the text and employ a wider, more flexible range of cohesive devices without over-relying on basic transition markers.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited in range and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common terms and topic-related vocabulary, but this is accompanied by noticeable errors in word form, spelling, and word choice. For example, 'qauntity' is misspelled, and terms like 'paked food' (packaged food), 'availabe' (available), and 'dificulties' (difficulties) demonstrate persistent spelling issues. Furthermore, phrasal choices such as 'Government also take an action' show inadequate control of collocations and word forms. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the lexical range from expanding beyond a basic level. To improve, the writer should build a broader vocabulary and pay closer attention to correct spelling and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences alongside attempts at complex forms that are frequently faulty. There are frequent errors in verb forms, tenses, subject-verb agreement, and articles. Examples include 'Some people needs' (incorrect agreement), 'food which did not required' (tense and form errors), 'if effects on health' (preposition and form errors), and 'we would give awareness'. Punctuation is also inconsistently handled, with run-on tendencies and missing commas. These frequent errors cause strain and difficulty for the reader. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to increase the variety of error-free complex sentence structures and exercise much better control over basic grammatical rules and verb patterns.
