Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response addresses the prompt minimally, as the writer attempts to present an opinion on whether sugary products should be more expensive. However, the position is not always clear, and the ideas are very limited and under-developed. For instance, the writer mentions that companies like 'Next cola' give relief on prices and that fast food contains unhealthy ingredients like 'bread, chease, chiken', but these points lack clear explanation and direct relevance to the proposal of raising prices to reduce sugar consumption. The examples provided, such as 'Master hotel' and 'Delco', are tangential and fail to support a coherent argument, resulting in a performance that touches upon the task only at a very basic level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The text displays some basic organization, with paragraph breaks used to separate different points, beginning with phrases like 'First of all' and 'Second of all'. However, there is no clear overall progression, and the information and ideas are not arranged coherently enough to guide the reader smoothly through the argument. Cohesive devices are used in a very repetitive and mechanical manner, and referencing is frequently unclear, such as the pronoun 'who' used incorrectly to refer to inanimate objects or concepts throughout the text. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal logical flow within paragraphs is disjointed, preventing the response from achieving a higher level of structural clarity.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, heavily relying on simple words and terms directly related to the prompt, such as 'food', 'drink', 'sugar', and 'health'. There are numerous spelling and word-choice errors that strain the reader's understanding, including 'reasion' for reason, 'attect' for attack, 'shief' for chef, 'unheaith' for unhealthy, 'weath', 'blost', 'nurvies', 'proseccing', 'chease', 'unfrech', and 'faat'. The writer attempts to use some less common words like 'processing' and 'manufactured', but these are undermined by severe spelling inaccuracies and awkward collocations, keeping the lexical range strictly limited.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response exhibits a very limited range of structures, consisting mainly of simple sentences and faulty attempts at complex clauses. Errors are extremely frequent and often distort the meaning, such as in the opening sentence: 'Many manufactured food and drink products contain high levels of sugar who is the causes the health problems.' There are persistent errors in verb forms, subject-verb agreement, articles, and prepositions, including phrases like 'many manufactured food companies used the high level sugar... in the starting the company run they give many releif'. Punctuation is also basic and unreliable, and the dense concentration of grammatical faults frequently causes difficulty for the reader.
