Student answer (Band 5.5)

Taking care of health is very important. A number of health problems are caused by the high levels of sugar in processed food and drinks, due to which some people beleive that making these products more costly will reduce its consumption.

I totally disagree with this view and reasons for the same are elucidated in the upcoming paragraphs.

To begin with, it will not effect rich people. to be more precise, making the products more expensive does not create any effect on rich people, they will buy these items even if the prices become high. as per the survey report held by WHO 59% persons out of 100 buy sugary products even at higher prices.

Moving further, taste is everything in today's era. people will prefer taste over price. Specially the children which is very vulunrable group, they do not understand the high or low price. The sweetthooth people will also consume sugar no mater what. In a survey held by WHO in the year 2020 people prefer sugary products more specially after having their meal.however government or the local communities should try to organise some programmes to educate people about the health hazard caused by consuming sugar or processed food.

To conclude, making the processed food costly will not bring a solution, rather than that government should try to organise some programmes or camps to educate the people about the health issues.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You addressed all parts of the task by stating a clear position of complete disagreement and providing relevant arguments regarding rich consumers and taste preferences. However, your response sits at this level because some of your ideas are under-developed. For instance, your point about children being a vulnerable group is introduced but not sufficiently explained or linked back to the core question. Furthermore, you failed to meet the minimum length requirement, as your response contains only 233 words instead of the required 250. To reach a higher band, you need to write at least the minimum word count and extend your supporting arguments more fully with deeper explanations or specific examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

Your essay has a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, demonstrating that you can use paragraphing appropriately. You also employ some cohesive devices to connect your thoughts, such as 'To begin with' and 'To conclude'. However, the progression of ideas is occasionally disrupted by mechanical transitions like 'Moving further' and punctuation errors between sentences. Referencing is also not always entirely clear, as seen with pronouns like 'its consumption' referring back to 'processed food and drinks'. To achieve a higher band, you need to ensure smoother transitions between paragraphs and maintain a clear, logical progression throughout without mechanical phrasing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You demonstrated an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'elucidated', 'hazard', and 'vulnerable'. However, your writing contains several noticeable spelling and word choice errors that prevent you from reaching a higher band. For example, you misspelled 'beleive', 'effect' instead of 'affect', 'vulunrable', 'sweetthooth', and 'mater'. Additionally, some collocations and word forms are imprecise, such as '59% persons out of 100'. To improve your lexical score, you must pay closer attention to spelling accuracy and use less common vocabulary with greater precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempted a mix of simple and complex sentence forms throughout the essay, showing some control over basic sentence structures. Nevertheless, your writing features frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing capitalisation at the start of sentences like 'to be more precise', run-on sentences, and awkward punctuation before conjunctions such as 'however government'. While these errors rarely impede overall communication, they prevent your writing from achieving a higher band. To improve your grammatical range and accuracy, you should focus on eliminating basic punctuation errors, ensuring correct capitalisation, and improving the accuracy of your complex sentence constructions.
