Student answer (Band 5.5)
Foods and drinks are manafactured with high level of sugar in it which resulted in causing alot of health problems. Due to which many people believes that manafacturer should increase the prices of those sugary products. In their opinion increase in price results in less consumtion of those products. And i believe that this solution is valid but there are some other ways as well to encourage people to consume less sugar.
First of all, if we made sugary product more expensive. People will shift towards other products which are cheaper. Which indirectly decreases the risk of health issues. Because no one wants to spend a huge amount on products which are available in low prices in the past. Everyone prefer to move toward its cheaper alternative with less amount of sugar which is enough to fulfill their craving and are healtheir as well. And it results in relief for the health department.
However there are some other solutions as well. Because some people may not care about the increased prices and they still consume those high sugar products. So it is better to raise awareness among people about the possible health issues caused by these types of products. We should spread awareness with the help of social media. People should talk to their doctors about effects of high sugar. Fitness influencers should also teach their audience to consume as less sugar as possible. And tell them about its negative impact on our body.
In conclusion, Although many people believes that increasing price is the best solution for less consumption of sugary products. And i agree that it would be a good option. And i believe that raising awareness with increasing price is also very essential for controlling the consumption.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position and discussing both the impact of raising prices on sugary products and alternative solutions like public awareness. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the viewpoint that high prices drive consumers towards cheaper alternatives is mentioned, the explanation tends to rely on repetition rather than deep expansion. For instance, the discussion on health department relief and consumer cravings is stated simply without fully exploring the socio-economic implications or broader public health impacts. To reach a higher level, the ideas need to be more fully extended and supported with precise examples rather than general assertions, ensuring all parts of the prompt receive balanced and thorough elaboration.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into introduction, body paragraphs addressing different aspects of the prompt, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised to separate distinct arguments, such as the economic approach in the second paragraph and the awareness-raising approach in the third. Nevertheless, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty. The text relies heavily on repetitive transitional phrases and sentence starters like 'First of all,' and 'However,' without demonstrating smoother, more varied referencing. Furthermore, the connection between sentences occasionally feels disjointed, such as starting sentences with conjunctions like 'And' or 'Because,' which disrupts the natural flow and logical progression expected at higher levels.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The writer employs an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'consumtion', 'alternative', and 'influencers'. However, the lexical control is hindered by noticeable spelling errors like 'manafactured' and 'manafacturer', as well as word form and choice inaccuracies, such as 'healtheir' instead of healthier and 'healther' implicitly intended. The repetition of basic words like 'products', 'prices', and 'sugar' limits the precision and variety of the writing. While communication is not severely impeded, these frequent lexical and spelling errors mean the vocabulary remains restricted in flexibility and accuracy, preventing a higher evaluation under this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence forms, demonstrating basic control over sentence boundaries. However, there is a limited range of grammatical structures used accurately. The text contains several frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and article usage that cause difficulty for the reader, such as fragment sentences ('Because no one wants to spend a huge amount...'), subject-verb agreement issues ('many people believes'), and incorrect prepositions or pluralisation ('effects of high sugar'). Punctuation is also problematic, notably with the frequent misuse of full stops to break up complex dependent clauses. To improve, the writer must work on mastering complex sentence structures and reducing basic grammatical lapses.
