Student answer (Band 5.5)
Majority processed food and drink products have higher concentration of sugar, which have side effects on health. To overcome the significant amount of consumption of these products, products should be sold expensively. From my perspective, to some extent it will encourage people to lower the consumption but despite, several people would still consume it. This is not the perfect solution for this problem.
It seems to me that the government should advise the manufacturers to limit the concentration of sugar in their products. A person without diabetes should also limit the consumption of these products because no one knows when they will be diagnosed as diabetic. For instance, I am limiting my consumption of sugar for my health. I am not diabetic but we all know that refined sugar is harmful for health.
I believe that if companies use limited amount of sugar in their products so this would be best overall. People will stop buying the expensive products for sometime but eventually they will going to buy. This is not the perfect solution. For instance, there is inflation in our country due to which we restricted to buy the products but eventually we had to buy as we were unable to control our desires.
In conculsion, it implys that increasing prices of the products will have little impact on the consumption. It is not a bettert solution and should find alternative method which would have a great impact on the level of consumption.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response partially addresses the task by discussing whether sugary products should be more expensive, expressing a partial view that it is not a complete solution. However, the ideas are limited and under-developed, relying on repetitive reasoning rather than deep exploration. Furthermore, the length requirement is not met, as the response falls short of the two hundred and fifty-word minimum by six words, which restricts the depth of the argument. To reach a higher level, you need to fully extend your arguments with more detailed explanations, concrete broader examples, and ensure you meet the minimum word count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some organisation with paragraphing used to separate distinct points, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas throughout the essay. Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate or repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on 'For instance' and 'This is not the perfect solution'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, making the flow somewhat mechanical. To improve coherence, you should ensure that each paragraph builds logically on the previous one and employ a wider, more natural variety of linking words to connect your thoughts smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey the basic meaning, featuring words like 'concentration', 'consumption', and 'inflation'. There are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and spelling, such as 'sold expensively' instead of 'taxed more heavily' or 'priced higher', 'conculsion', 'implys', and 'bettert'. These lexical inaccuracies and spelling slips cause some difficulty for the reader. To progress, you should focus on learning accurate word pairings and expanding your range of less common lexical items related to health and economics.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay displays a limited range of sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, such as 'if companies use limited amount of sugar in their products so this would be best overall' and 'due to which we restricted to buy'. There are frequent errors in verb tenses, articles, prepositions, and word forms, such as 'majority processed food', 'harmful for health', and 'eventually they will going to buy'. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve your grammar, you should practice forming complex sentences accurately and review basic rules regarding article usage and verb patterns.
