Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: “I completely agree,” and the response gives two relevant reasons—health problems and effects on the economy. You also attempt to explain how higher prices might reduce consumption. However, the support is limited and some claims are unclear or insufficiently explained. For example, the link between sugary products, “medicine,” and “problem in the environment” is difficult to follow, while the claim that sugar causes cancer is presented without explanation or an example. The conclusion repeats the main points rather than drawing them together. To strengthen the response, explain the price mechanism more precisely and develop each reason with a clear, relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The paragraphs also broadly separate the argument about affordability from the argument about health and the economy. However, progression within paragraphs is often difficult to follow, and linking expressions are sometimes used mechanically or inaccurately. For instance, “Another hand” does not clearly signal the relationship between the paragraphs, and “As a result” introduces conclusions that do not always follow clearly from the preceding explanation. References such as “it” and “they” are also sometimes unclear. Use a more direct sequence—claim, explanation, example, result—and check that each linking phrase accurately expresses the connection between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “sugary products,” “diseases,” “economy” and “tax,” and you communicate a generally understandable position. However, the range is limited and several word choices, collocations and spellings make the argument difficult to read. Phrases such as “production food,” “develop the diseases” and “take a many tax” are not natural English, while repeated use of “diseases” and “products” limits precision. There are also frequent spelling errors, including “challanging,” “compeletly” and “diabities.” Build a small set of accurate topic phrases and practise using them in complete sentences; this will make your meaning clearer and reduce repetition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example with “because” and “as a result,” but sentence structures are limited and these attempts are often faulty. Errors in verb forms and agreement occur throughout: “products … used,” “which cause,” and “people have cann't afford” do not form accurate clauses. Articles, plurals and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “the primary reason” and the fragment-like “As a result.” These errors sometimes make the intended relationships hard to understand. Practise accurate simple sentences first, especially subject–verb agreement and verb forms, then combine them using one clear subordinate clause at a time. Check punctuation and sentence boundaries during revision.
