Student answer (Band 6.0)
Several food items and drinks have high proportion of sugar as main ingredients, which is not good for health, leading many medical issues. Whether, such products should be made pricely to attract individuals towards diet with low sugar is a matter of discussion. I strongly strongly agree with this view to make such unhealthy items costly so it might help with the less consumption of sugar.
On the one hand, the consumers who like the taste of the particular sugary product knowing the consequences of that will be difficult to stop them from eating or drinking. The cold drink, for instance are available in different versions without sugar and that too at low cost, but the customers still prefer the classic at higher cost because of the taste difference. Also, sometimes it becomes the matter of taste, the cost will not affect the habit of consumers.
On the other hand, making some of unhealthy food items costly will divert an individuals to buy less expensive healthy food. For example, rising the prices of fast food will affect the young generation and they will eventually move to homemade food. The fast-food contains high level of sweet and oils which are not suitable to eat everyday, but because of low cost and easily available attracts more customers. The rise of cost in such products will defenitely encourage people to consume it less.
In conclusion, although in some of the products the rise of cost might not help but in some circumstances this will help.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you strongly support making sugary products more expensive, and you address both the possibility that price may not change some consumers’ habits and the potential to encourage healthier choices. The examples of sugar-free drinks and fast food help keep the discussion relevant. However, the first body paragraph mainly explains why price increases may not work, while the second gives a broader claim that people will switch to homemade food without fully showing how likely or widespread this change is. The conclusion acknowledges both sides but does not clearly restate why you ultimately agree. Develop the reasoning with more specific consequences or evidence, and make the final judgement more decisive and consistent with your stated position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs and a conclusion. The progression from consumers who may remain loyal to sugary products to the possibility of choosing healthier alternatives is generally easy to follow. Phrases such as “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” signal the contrast clearly. At times, however, the links between claims are abrupt: the discussion moves from cold drinks to taste and price without fully explaining the connection, and the fast-food example combines several points in one paragraph. The conclusion’s “although” construction also leaves the final position somewhat unresolved. Use clearer references between sentences and develop each paragraph around one main point to make the progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “consequences,” “consumers,” “divert,” and “eventually,” and the reader can understand your main argument. There are also attempts at topic-specific phrasing, such as “sugar-free” and “homemade food.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “made pricely,” “attract individuals towards diet,” and “rising the prices.” “The cold drink” and “the fast-food” are also imprecise expressions in context, while “defenitely” contains a spelling error. These issues do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and naturalness. Build accuracy by learning common collocations for price changes and consumer behaviour, and check spelling and word forms during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “which is not good for health” and a contrastive structure in the conclusion. Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “Whether, such products should be made…” uses an unnecessary comma and an awkward clause structure; “The cold drink, for instance are” has a subject–verb agreement problem; and “because of low cost and easily available attracts more customers” lacks a clear grammatical subject. Articles and plural forms also need attention, as in “an individuals.” To improve, check that each sentence has a complete subject and verb, and review agreement and article use, especially in longer sentences.
