Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You take a position in favour of making sugary products more expensive, and you give a reason: higher prices may make people think twice before buying them. However, the response only partially develops the task. The discussion shifts to personal self-control, product labelling, exercise and avoiding sugary products, without explaining clearly how price increases would reduce sugar consumption or addressing possible limitations of this policy. The example about your friend is relevant in intention, but the link between weight gain and cancer is asserted rather than explained or supported. The response also falls 11 words short of the required minimum. Develop two clear reasons, explain each step in the argument, and use a more credible example to support your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: the response begins with general concerns, then argues that higher prices could discourage purchases, and ends with a personal example. Connectors such as “Firstly,” “in addition to that,” and “Whereas” show an attempt to guide the reader. However, the overall progression is difficult to follow because several points are introduced without being developed, and the paragraphing does not clearly separate the main argument from supporting details. Some links are inaccurate or unclear, such as “Whereas” before the friend’s change in weight, and “I share this so that you take this example seriously” shifts abruptly into direct address. Use distinct paragraphs for your position, reasons and conclusion, and make each sentence build on the previous one.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “manufactured,” “labels,” “affordable,” “sugary products,” and “health,” so the reader can identify the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make meaning less clear. Examples include “common man problems,” “a huge numbers of diease,” “people approach,” and “it becames so much fat.” Some expressions are also imprecise, such as “sugar” as a disease in “like sugar,” where a specific condition would be clearer. Aim for accurate collocations and precise health terms, and check spelling carefully. Replacing repeated general words such as “products” and “people” with suitable alternatives would also make the argument more flexible.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both short statements and longer sentences, including a conditional idea in “Whenever you drink and eat more than your requirements, it is going to damage…”. However, the range is limited, and errors in sentence structure, verb forms and agreement occur frequently enough to make parts difficult to read. For example, “Manufactures want to sell their products and does not concern” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “he need to thinks” combines incompatible verb forms. The sentence beginning “Make the sugary products expensive” is not clearly connected to the following clause, and punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and verb patterns when revising.
