Student answer (Band 5.5)

The processed food and drink products contain high levels of sugar which are harmful for health as well. Many doctors and policy makers are worried about how to make people avoid such products. One possible solution would be to increase the price value of sugar-rich products to discourage their consumption. In my view, this solution will be beneficial for instant decline which can be transformed into long-term decline by educating individuals about their side effects.

Increasing the price of product results into the decline in its sales. Primarily, it is because no one wants to give a chunk of their amount in terms of taxes only to consume a processed product. It will work in the case of manufectured food as well. People starts looking for alternatives usually instead of spending extra amount. For instant, in the case of cigeruts, every individual is paying a significant amount of money to government in terms of tax. This tax helps governments to strictly monitor the supply chain of such products to control their illegal trade.

Policy makers can use funds accumulates from the sales of high-level sugar products to run campaigns about the awarness of adopting healthy alternative instead of buying rich sugar products. Diabeties is mainly caused by consuming such products. Using patients of diabeties to signify the importance of preventing such products will guarantee long-term resutls.

In conclusion, this will help in controlling diesases

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You take a position in favour of making sugary products more expensive and give relevant reasons, including reduced sales and using revenue for health-awareness campaigns. The example about cigarettes also attempts to illustrate how taxation can affect consumption. However, the response addresses the task only partially: the link between higher prices and lower sugar consumption is asserted rather than explained, and the cigarette example focuses mainly on monitoring illegal trade, not on whether taxes reduce use. The claim that diabetes is mainly caused by these products is also too broad and needs careful support. The conclusion is incomplete and does not restate your position clearly. The response is 224 words, below the required 250, which limits the development of your ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Primarily,” “For instance” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, progression is limited because the second body paragraph moves quickly from tax revenue to awareness campaigns and then to diabetes, without fully explaining the connections. The conclusion, “In conclusion, this will help in controlling diseases,” is too brief to bring the argument together. Some linking is also mechanical, and references such as “this solution” and “such products” could be made more precise. Develop each paragraph around one clear point and use transitions that show the exact relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “sugar-rich products,” “consumption,” “alternatives,” “supply chain” and “campaigns,” so the reader can follow the general argument. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or awkward choices make the writing less clear, such as “price value,” “a chunk of their amount,” “high-level sugar products” and “rich sugar products.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “manufectured,” “cigeruts,” “awarness,” “Diabeties” and “resutls.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause, even though the overall meaning is usually recoverable. Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, use “increase the price” and “sugar-rich products” consistently.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “products contain high levels of sugar which are harmful” and a purpose clause in “to discourage their consumption.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction, agreement and verb forms. For example, “Increasing the price of product results into the decline” has problems with the article, agreement and preposition, while “People starts looking” has incorrect subject–verb agreement. “Policy makers can use funds accumulates” also has an incorrect verb form. The final sentence is a fragment-like, underdeveloped conclusion. Practise building accurate sentences with subordinate clauses, and check articles, plural forms and agreement before adding more complex structures.
