Student answer (Band 5.5)
In today's world, many food manufacturing companies add a lot of sugar in different items. Increase of sugar in food products causes serious health issues. So people think these products should be made expensive for the less consumption of sugar. In my opinion, I partly agree with that point of view because this point might not good for the companies as well as the local customers.
On the one side, I agree with the point that products price should be made up so there will be less costumers. When the product will not sold as per routine, there will be definately advantages. This action can help to improve health problem. When there are high prices, everyone cannot afford items, So there will be decrease in sale of these products. It can have a positive impact on people regarding their health.
But on the other side, I disagree with the point, because it also has a negative impression on the company's profit. When there will be
less sale, the company will be in loss , because many costumers will cut off. Moreover, people will not buy different items, so there will not aware or various tastes of various food items. Totally rely on increase prices can be harmful for the companies because of their loss in sales and also local population will not get some good food stuffs.
From my side, I think companies should make a proper plan. They should add less sugar in products instead on increasing prices. So they can generate more sales and people can also buy various products on reasonable prices. This plan might have a positive impact on all aspects. There will be definately less health concers with this plan. Companies and people will also get advantage.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address the question and present a partly agreeing position, then offer reducing sugar as an alternative to raising prices. The response includes relevant points about health and company sales, so the reader can follow your main view. However, the position is not fully consistent: you first support higher prices, then focus on why they may harm companies and customers, without clearly weighing these effects or explaining how much you agree overall. Claims such as “everyone cannot afford items” and the suggestion that customers would lose access to “various tastes” need clearer reasoning or a specific example. Develop each main point with explanation and evidence, and make your final position explicit from the introduction through to the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs, and a concluding recommendation. Phrases such as “On the one side” and “But on the other side” signal the change in viewpoint, while the final paragraph returns to your proposed solution. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and linking expressions are repetitive or awkward. For example, “When the product will not sold as per routine” does not clearly connect the condition to the claimed benefits, and the second body paragraph combines company losses with customers’ access to food without a clear sequence. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, then explain its consequence, and use more precise referencing and transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “health issues,” “sugar,” “prices,” “sales,” and “profit,” which makes the subject clear. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning difficult to interpret. Examples include “less costumers,” “negative impression on the company's profit,” “not aware or various tastes,” and “health concers.” There are also spelling errors such as “definately” and “costumers.” Build a more precise set of expressions for discussing consumption, affordability, and business effects, and check spelling carefully. Choosing natural collocations will make your arguments clearer and more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional forms such as “When there are high prices…” and a contrast introduced by “because.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, sentence construction, articles, and punctuation. For instance, “When the product will not sold” needs a correctly formed passive, while “this point might not good” is missing a verb. In “there will not aware,” the sentence structure is incomplete. Commas and spacing are also inconsistent, as in “health problem. When” and “loss , because.” Practise accurate past and future forms, passive constructions, and complete clauses before adding more complex structures.
