Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you agree that sugary products should cost more, and you give relevant reasons, including possible health effects and the idea that higher prices may reduce consumption. The example of people buying food at work also relates to the issue. However, the response only partially develops the argument. The point about busy schedules explains why people buy convenient food, but it does not clearly show that these products are necessarily sugary or how a price increase would change their choices. The claim that higher prices save individuals money also needs explanation. To strengthen the response, develop each reason with a specific example and explain the link between the proposed price rise and reduced sugar consumption.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas are generally grouped by topic. Basic linking expressions such as “Because,” “So,” and “In conclusion” help show relationships between points. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the discussion moves from buying sweets outside to functions and then to obesity without fully connecting these examples. Several sentences also begin with “So” or “It,” making the links feel repetitive or unclear. Plan each paragraph around one main reason, then explain it and give a directly relevant example. Use clearer references and a wider range of linking phrases so the argument develops more smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “high level of sugar,” “obesity,” “diseases,” and “expensive,” so the main subject is understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations are unnatural, which sometimes makes the reader work to understand your meaning. Examples include “Eatable and drink products,” “impact on individuals health,” and “hactic schedule.” There are also repeated uses of “sugary items” and “people life.” Build a more precise set of topic phrases and check collocations and spelling. For instance, use “manufactured food and drink,” “affect people’s health,” and “hectic schedules” to express your ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a conditional idea in “If price of sugary goods should be increased then people think about it.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in sentence structure, articles, agreement and verb forms sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “Products contain high quantity of sugar should made more expensive” needs a clearer clause structure and a passive verb form; “it also encourage” has a subject–verb agreement error. Punctuation and spacing are also inconsistent, as in “life.Like.” Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a subordinate clause, and check articles, verb forms and agreement before adding more complexity.
