Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays many food and drink contain a lot of sugar, which causes many health problems. Some people believe that sugary products should be made more expensive to encourage people to consume less sugar. I agree this statement because it helps people to consume less sugar and helps make healthier.

On the first hand, making sugar products expensive it encourage people to consume less sugar.Because people eat cakes, choclates and drink regularly because it easily available. If there rates increase then people think twice before buy it and instead of cold drinks people choose simple water and fress juice and it helps people become healthier.

On the other hand, eating to much sugary products it causes serious health problems like obesity, diabetes and tooth decay. If people eat less amount of sugar they don't face illness. Moreover, government take taxes on suagry products to provide health education and makes helathier lifestyle.

However, increasing prices of products its not only sollution. Government also take action like give education to people and encourage them to not eat sugar and shows there harmfull effects on body So, people avoid it. Schools teacher teach students to eat healthier like fruits and vegetables and parents also aware for their children. Other things government do advertisement of these products because nowadays people understand internet much.

In conclusion, I agree sugary products food and cold drinks should be made expensive to encourage people to eat less sugar and impove health of people. Moreover governent also spread awareness about healthy eating habits.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear position in the introduction and conclusion, agreeing that sugary products should cost more. You also address the main issue with relevant points: higher prices may discourage purchases, and excess sugar can contribute to obesity, diabetes and tooth decay. However, these ideas are mostly asserted rather than explained with specific examples or fuller reasoning; for instance, the point about tax revenue funding health education is introduced but not developed. Your discussion of education and schools adds a relevant qualification, but the response does not fully explain how these measures relate to your position. The response is 239 words, so it is 11 words below the required minimum; 14 words copied from the prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, body paragraphs presenting reasons and a qualification, and a conclusion that restates your view. This gives the reader a basic route through your argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and linking phrases are either mechanical or inaccurately used. For example, “On the first hand” and “On the other hand” do not clearly distinguish the roles of the two paragraphs, while “However” introduces a useful counterpoint but the following ideas are crowded together. Some sentences run into one another without adequate punctuation, making relationships between ideas harder to follow. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each explanation directly to the point it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “sugary products,” “health problems,” “obesity,” “diabetes” and “health education.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make the writing less clear or natural. Examples include “sugar products” for products high in sugar, “fress juice,” “harmfull effects,” and “government take taxes.” Repetition of “people,” “sugar” and “healthier” also limits flexibility. Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing price measures and public health, and check spelling carefully. More accurate collocations would help you express your ideas clearly without relying on repeated basic wording.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer conditional or explanatory sentences, such as “If there rates increase then people think twice before buy it.” However, complex attempts are often faulty, and frequent errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “making sugar products expensive it encourage people” has an incorrect subject–verb pattern, while “government also take action like give education” needs more accurate verb forms. Several sentences also lack clear boundaries or punctuation, particularly the long sentence beginning “However, increasing prices of products…” Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly formed supporting clause before adding more complex structures.
