Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many proccesed food and drinks contains high amount of sugar which can lead to various health problems in humans. I agree with this initiative to make sugery products expensive, which will discourage people to consume them regularly.

First of all, higher prices can discourage people to use sugery products. They will reduce their consumption of sugery drinks and proccesed food which has high amount of preservatives. Despite of that, they tend to purchase more healthier options which could suits their pocket.Such as fruits, dry fruits and homemade snacks and sweets. Moreover, reduced sugar consumption help them to lower the risk of type two diabeties, tooth decay and obesity. For instance, if sugary drinks become expensive, people will shift to natural water, coconut water or lemonade instead. Children will also copy them.

On the other hand, government should also support for puplic awareness campaign. Some people will definetely purchase expensive drinks because of their habits but government should educate them regarding this. For example, school can also make students aware about using sugary food and promote more healthy options to them.Furthermore, government should reduce the pricing of healthy alternatives such as dry fruits, fresh fruits healthy green vegetables, homemade sweets, and candies. Apart from that, it should be easily available too for everyone.

To put in a nutshell, although the sugary food business is too vast, however it can be reduced by making it expensive. According to me, combination of higher pricing and awareness campaign together would be definetly effective in improving public health.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you agree that making sugary products more expensive can reduce consumption. You give relevant reasons, including health risks, healthier substitutes, and public-awareness campaigns, and the examples of children copying adults and switching to water or coconut water help make the argument concrete. This fully covers the task and shows some development beyond a simple opinion. However, the pricing argument is more fully explained than the awareness and affordability points. For example, you mention that some people will continue buying sugary drinks out of habit, but do not explain how awareness campaigns would change that behaviour. To strengthen the response further, develop each supporting point with a clearer explanation of its likely impact and link it directly to your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting related arguments, and a conclusion that restates your view. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all,” “On the other hand,” and “To put in a nutshell” make the stages easy to identify. However, some connections are mechanical or not quite logical. “On the other hand” suggests a contrast, although the awareness campaign is an additional measure that supports your position. The transition “Despite of that” is also unclear because the relationship between the ideas is not established. Some sentences run together, as in “pocket.Such as fruits,” which interrupts the flow. Use transitions that express the precise relationship between ideas, and connect examples grammatically to the sentences they illustrate.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “health problems,” “consumption,” “tooth decay,” “obesity,” and “public awareness campaign.” These terms help communicate your main ideas, and you attempt some more specific expressions such as “type two diabetes.” However, the range is limited in places by repeated use of “sugary products,” “government,” and “healthy,” while several spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable: “proccesed,” “sugery,” “definetely,” and “puplic.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “support for public awareness campaign” and “reduce the pricing.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument, but they reduce precision. Build a wider set of accurate collocations for taxation, consumer behaviour, and healthier alternatives.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple statements and some longer structures, including a conditional example beginning “if sugary drinks become expensive” and a concessive clause with “although.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main meaning is generally clear. There are, however, some errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction. For example, “food and drinks contains” should use a plural verb, while “reduced sugar consumption help” needs a singular verb. “Which could suits their pocket” combines incompatible verb forms, and “government should also support for” has an incorrect grammatical pattern. Punctuation also causes occasional run-ons, particularly where a full stop is followed immediately by the next sentence. Review subject–verb agreement and clause boundaries, and check each sentence for a complete, correctly formed structure.
