Student answer (Band 6.0)
These days, most brands manufacture food items as well as drinks which contain enormous levels of sugar, which is the main cause of several health problems. I totally agree with the statement as sugar is one of the nutrional elements that should be consumed in limits.
The food items such as chocolates, biscuits, chips and every snack product has large amount of sugar. Especially, the chocolates and biscuits are made of more than 50 percent of sweetners which consists both added sugar and natural sugar. Children eat these products regularly and which will make the younger ones face problem in the future. The health problems could include obesity, diabetes and hormone issues. Not only the food items but also the drinks contain sugar in it. Companies do label them as fruit juices and extracts and to make it sweet, they add sugar which would affect the health of individuals over time.
To encourage people in consuming less sugar in their regular diet, several decisions should be taken. For example, the rules and regulations given by concerned food regulatory committee should be improved such as asking the brands to increase the size of nutrional label and requiring the food brands write product's sugar content below the name or beside it's quantity/volume, the cost of product is to be decided based on its sugar content, and teaching the children how to read labels will focus to improve health of each ones over time.
In conclusion, the packaged food and drinks should reduce the sugar content in the products and focus on providing a good health to the consumer.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: you agree that sugar consumption should be limited, and the conclusion reinforces the need to reduce sugar in packaged products. You give relevant reasons, including possible health effects on children and the sugar content of drinks marketed as fruit juices. However, the task specifically asks whether sugary products should be made more expensive. This central proposal is only briefly addressed through the suggestion that price be based on sugar content; you do not explain how higher prices would reduce consumption or support this with an example. Some health claims are also asserted rather than developed. Explain the pricing mechanism and extend one or two reasons with clearer evidence or examples to make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The ideas generally move from health concerns to possible measures, and linking phrases such as “For example” and “In conclusion” help signal this progression. However, the second body paragraph combines several different proposals—larger labels, displaying sugar content, price-setting and educating children—in one long sentence, so the relationships between them are difficult to follow. Some connections are also unclear, as in “Children eat these products regularly and which will make…” Consider separating each proposal into a sentence and using clearer links to show how higher prices, in particular, could influence purchasing. This would make the overall progression more controlled.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “health problems,” “obesity,” “diabetes,” “regulations” and “sugar content,” so the main ideas are understandable. There are also attempts at more specific wording, such as “food regulatory committee” and “nutritional label.” However, several choices or forms are inaccurate or awkward: “nutrional elements,” “sweetners,” “enormous levels,” and “fruit juices and extracts” do not express the intended meaning naturally. Repetition of “food items,” “sugar” and “health” also limits flexibility. Aim for precise collocations such as “high sugar content,” “added sweeteners” and “food labelling requirements,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “which contain enormous levels of sugar” and a conditional-style explanation of possible effects. The overall meaning is usually clear, but some grammatical errors and sentence constructions reduce accuracy. For example, “The food items … has” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “Children eat these products regularly and which will make…” is not a complete, well-formed connection. The long sentence beginning “For example, the rules and regulations…” also lacks clear grammatical control and punctuation. Practise breaking complex ideas into shorter sentences, checking agreement and clause structure, and using punctuation to separate a list of recommendations.
