Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
Your position is clear: “I strongly agree” directly answers the question, and you identify health problems as a reason. However, the response addresses the task only minimally. It does not explain how higher prices might reduce consumption, develop the health argument, or provide the relevant examples requested. The final sentence repeats the concern about health issues without adding support. The response also contains 75 words, so it does not meet the required minimum of 250 words; this leaves the argument substantially incomplete. To improve, develop at least two relevant reasons, explain each with cause-and-effect detail, and include a specific example before reaching a conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: the opening introduces the topic and states your position, followed by a sentence about health effects. The linking word “Although” also signals a contrast. However, the ideas do not progress into a developed argument, and the final sentence largely repeats the point already made. The opening sentence is incomplete, which makes the relationship between the topic and your position harder to follow. Build a clear sequence by using separate paragraphs for your position, supporting reasons and conclusion, and connect each reason to its explanation with clear references and transitions. This would give the response a more coherent overall progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “high levels of sugar,” “health issues” and “consume,” so the reader can identify the subject and your main concern. There is also an attempt at more formal phrasing in “I strongly agree.” However, the range is narrow and several expressions are repetitive or imprecise, such as “food and drink items” and “serious health issues.” Some combinations are unnatural, including “production items” and “sugar mixing on foods and drinks,” which make the message less clear. Aim for more precise collocations, such as “processed food and beverages,” “added sugar,” and “excessive sugar consumption,” and vary the language used to describe health consequences.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt a complex contrast with “Although,” and the sentence beginning “Although, sugar is very important…” shows an effort to combine ideas. However, the range of structures is limited, and errors in sentence formation and verb forms are frequent enough to affect clarity. “A lot of production items…” is a sentence fragment, while “it also causing” needs a finite verb form. In “sugary products should made more expensive,” the passive construction is incomplete; use “should be made.” The phrase “almost every sweet products” also has an agreement error. Practise complete sentence patterns and check subject–verb agreement, articles, plurals and auxiliary verbs when editing.
