Student answer (Band 5.0)
I agree with this statement that many manufactured food and drinks products contain high levels of sugar which cause numerous health issues. One solution can be that sugary itmes should be more expensive to encourage people to consume less sugar. Besides this, government should provide guidlines to people about the exccessive use of sugar in there daily routine.
Firstly, sugary items production should be more expensive that people could not use them. People will consume less sugar if the sugary products will be expensive. For example, people will eat or drink healthy alternatives such as fresh juices instead of eating cakes, deserts and soda drinks. Furthermore, packaging should also be improved on the packets and bottels fat and calorie should be mentioned to give awareness to the people instead of making things expensive. Moreover, making sugary items expensive can cause harmful effect on those people who cannot afford expensive items for their childrens.
Secondly, the public should be made aware of the side effects of usage of sugar on health. This can be done by different public sectors or by government to inform people this could effect on their lives. For instance, intake of more sugary products can cause heart disease, diabetes and teeth problems. These all disease could not be treated in simple way high dose of medican can treat these type of issues.
In conclusion, increasing the prices of sugary items alone cannot be effective. Besides this, Government should start a guidline plans for public about consuming sugary items. In addition, in school teachers should start educating students about eating sugary products like, choclates and deserts will also effect on consuming sugary items.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is generally clear: you agree that sugar consumption is a health concern, but argue that price increases alone are insufficient and should be accompanied by public guidance. You also give relevant examples, including fresh juice as an alternative and health risks such as diabetes. However, the response only partly develops the central proposal. The claim that higher prices will reduce consumption is asserted rather than explained, and the point about affordability for families is introduced without showing how it affects your position. The discussion of labelling and school education shifts attention to other measures without comparing their effectiveness with price increases. Develop each main reason with a clearer explanation and a specific supporting example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an identifiable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad structure. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the first body paragraph moves from price effects to alternatives, then packaging and affordability, with limited explanation linking these points. Some connections are unclear, as in “Furthermore, packaging should also be improved … instead of making things expensive.” The conclusion repeats the idea of government guidance but adds school education without clearly drawing together the earlier arguments. Use each paragraph to develop one main point, and make links between claims explicit rather than relying mainly on sequencing words.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “manufactured,” “alternatives,” “heart disease” and “diabetes,” so the reader can understand the subject and your main ideas. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling problems make the writing less precise. Phrases such as “sugary items production,” “public sectors” and “guidline plans” are not natural or clear in context; repeated use of “sugary items” also makes the response sound repetitive. Spelling errors such as “exccessive,” “bottels” and “choclates” are noticeable. Build a more accurate set of topic phrases and check spelling, while varying repeated terms with suitable alternatives such as “sugar-rich products” or “sweetened foods and drinks.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including conditional forms such as “People will consume less sugar if the sugary products will be expensive” and a relative clause in the opening. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction sometimes make relationships difficult to follow. For example, “if … will be expensive” should use a present form after “if,” while “that people could not use them” does not express the intended result clearly. In “These all disease could not be treated,” the demonstrative and noun do not agree in number. Practise building accurate conditional and cause-and-effect sentences, and proofread each sentence for agreement and complete, clearly connected clauses.
