Student answer (Band 5.0)

I am totally disaggree with this point because in my view that is incorrect. I thought that increasing prices has not the solution of this problems because when a person has addiceted then it is difficult to leave these food. for example, in pakistan most of the people taking tea even in the hot weather , they thought that tea reduces their tension and give them in the extra energy. They go anywhere but they don't forget to take the tea because the for them are like an addication. If government or companies raise the prices of sugar but then yet most of people using suger because its come their habbits so they go to any extant to addict their mind with the sugar. the solution is that I think that government should find any alternative of the sugar to reduce the sugar consumption which is healthy and also used as an alternatives of the sugar like the sugar which is made from the sugar cane and has no such harmful ingradient.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You state a clear disagreement and give a relevant reason: people may continue consuming sugary products even when prices rise because the habit is difficult to break. The example about tea in Pakistan helps illustrate habitual consumption. However, the response addresses the issue only partially: it does not explain in enough detail how higher prices might affect consumption or consider the health argument behind the proposal. The alternative-sugar suggestion is relevant but unclear, especially the claim that sugar made from sugar cane has no harmful ingredients. The response is also 78 words below the required minimum, leaving too little space to develop and support your position. Add a second reason and explain your examples more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic line of argument: you disagree, explain that habits may persist despite price rises, and propose an alternative. The example about tea is connected to your point, so the reader can follow the general direction. However, the response is presented as one long paragraph, with little clear progression between the example, the claim about sugar prices, and the proposed solution. Linking phrases such as “for example” and “the solution is that” are used, but connections are sometimes awkward or repetitive, and references such as “these food” and “it” are not always clear. Organise the response into an introduction, developed body paragraphs, and a conclusion, using clear links to show how each idea supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “increasing prices,” “consumption,” “alternative,” and “harmful,” and the reader can generally identify your main point. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts difficult to understand. For example, “addiceted” and “addication” appear to mean “addicted” and “addiction,” while “go to any extant to addict their mind” does not express the intended idea naturally. “Sugar which is made from the sugar cane” is also an unclear description of an alternative. Build a more precise set of topic phrases, such as “reduce sugar intake” and “sugar substitutes,” and check spelling and natural word combinations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for instance when explaining that a person may find it difficult to stop eating certain foods. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and attempts at complex sentences are often faulty, which sometimes makes the meaning hard to follow. Examples include “I thought that increasing prices has not the solution” and “most of the people taking tea,” where the verb forms and sentence construction are incomplete or inaccurate. There are also recurring problems with articles, agreement, and plurals, as in “this problems.” Use a reliable pattern for stating opinions and reasons, then check each sentence for a subject and correctly formed verb. Shorter, accurate sentences would improve clarity before you add more complex structures.
