Student answer (Band 5.5)

yes, in now days everyone is debating on the effects of consumption of sugar and its sever causes. But to make them expensive is not a appropriate solution of this problem.

Sugar products should be made expensive because it would affect negatively poor people . As they use suagr just for basic sweet things or sometime for cleberating any special event . For instance the people in pakistan use drinks and sugar products on some special events like Eid or may be on someone's marriage. So if sugar products prices raises then thier small act o happines will be distressed.

Further more increasing prices would not affect rich people because they can afford these thing , whatever the prices of sugar products could be.

So this kind of application might be quite helpful for poor people in sense of health issus but creates a lots of problems for them and did not affect wealthy people.

So government should do something else which is beneficial for every member of society like they should aware nation to the disadvantages of using more sugar products.

To wrap up all the discussion i suggest government to empliment some useful techniques to control the use of sugar and suagr products and be aware everyone to its bad affects that can risk our lives and should promote the other products which are sugar free or not have much endanger . Like in modren world we have some plants leaves that are sweet but not affects your health.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you disagree with making sugary products more expensive and propose public education and healthier alternatives instead. You also give relevant support, including the example of people in Pakistan buying sweet products for Eid or weddings, and explain that higher prices could affect poorer households more than wealthy ones. This addresses the main question, but the discussion is unevenly developed. The claim that price rises would harm poor people is explained, while the health benefits of reducing sugar and the effectiveness of your alternative measures receive little support. Develop both sides of this reasoning with clearer explanation or a specific example, and make the link between your proposals and lower sugar consumption explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure: it introduces your disagreement, gives reasons, and ends with recommendations. Paragraphing helps separate the main points, and expressions such as “For instance” and “To wrap up” signal examples and a conclusion. However, progression is sometimes difficult to follow because ideas are repeated or connected mechanically. For example, the discussion moves from the effect on poor people to wealthy people and then to health issues without clearly showing how these points relate. Some references, such as “this kind of application,” are unclear. Organise each body paragraph around one main reason, use more precise links between claims and examples, and avoid repeating the conclusion’s recommendation.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “consumption,” “afford,” “disadvantages,” and “sugar-free,” so the reader can generally understand your argument. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make the writing less clear or natural. Examples include “sever causes,” “small act o happines,” “health issus,” and “endanger.” Some phrases, such as “made expensive” and “aware nation,” do not express the intended meaning naturally. Build a more accurate set of topic phrases, such as “increase the price,” “raise public awareness,” and “health risks,” and check spelling and word forms carefully. Greater precision would make your ideas easier to follow.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional idea in “if sugar products prices raises” and a relative clause in “that can risk our lives.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation sometimes make the meaning harder to follow. For example, “it would affect negatively poor people” has an awkward structure, while “prices raises” does not show correct subject–verb agreement. The sentence beginning “So government should do something else” also runs into a long recommendation with several clauses that are not clearly joined. Practise accurate sentence patterns, especially conditionals and clauses with “because” or “which,” and use full stops to separate complete ideas.
