Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is fact that fast food or processed food and drinks have high quantities of sugar which is problamatic for health. I agree with this statement that sugary products ought to be costly, consequently, people will hardly able to purchase them. It will be effective to discourade the vast usage of high sugur.

There are several reasons why high level of sugar should be controled. Initially, excessive use of sugar is the leading cause of alot of mental and physical diseases. Due to this majority of people are becoming over weight, heart diseases and other detrimental disorders are increasing day by day. In recent era every second person is suffering with this kind of diseases. Furthermore, it is altering people's life style, by the use of fast food and sugary food people are becoming lazy and they do not like physical work or exercise. Resultantly, they become depressed or suffer with alot of different problems.

I totally agree with the statement that says processed food and drinks ought to be expensive which will reduce the consumption of sugar. There are several reasons why i agree with this and what are possible ways to reduce the consumption of sugary products. To began with the main reason is it has detrimental issues for mental and physical problems. And these products should be expensive so people cannot easily affort them. Companies should be less use the suguar and move to its alternatives. People should understans this thing that health is more important than permarary delight.

In conlusion, processed food and drinks contain high amount of sugar and it is really harmfull for health. The costs of these products should be high so majority of people cannot purchase it easily. In my point. is will be really beneficial.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear from the opening and conclusion: you agree that sugary products should cost more, and you give relevant reasons concerning health and consumption. However, the response only partly develops the task. The claims that sugar causes “mental and physical diseases” and that people become “lazy” or depressed are broad, with no specific explanation or example to show how higher prices would change behaviour. The discussion also shifts to companies using alternatives, but this proposal is not explained or connected clearly to the main argument. To strengthen the response, develop two focused reasons with supporting examples, and explain the likely effect of price increases rather than relying on general claims.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, supporting paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” help identify stages of the argument. However, progression is limited because the second body paragraph repeats the position and health concerns already stated, rather than adding a distinct, developed point. Some links are mechanical or unclear: “There are several reasons why I agree with this and what are possible ways…” combines two different purposes, while “Resultantly” does not make the relationship between inactivity and the preceding claims fully clear. Organise each body paragraph around one main idea, use references that clearly connect to earlier points, and avoid repeating the same claim in different wording.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “excessive use,” “detrimental disorders,” “consumption” and “alternatives,” which shows some range beyond basic words. However, the vocabulary is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less clear, such as “problamatic,” “discourade,” “sugur,” “affort” and “harmfull.” Some combinations are also unnatural, including “high quantities of sugar,” “suffering with” diseases and “permarary delight.” Aim to learn accurate collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise language—for example, naming a specific health risk or describing how a price rise affects purchasing—would make the argument clearer and more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use some longer sentence forms, including a relative clause in “which will reduce the consumption of sugar” and a reason clause beginning “Due to this.” However, the range is limited, and attempts to combine ideas often produce faulty structures. For example, “people will hardly able to purchase them” is missing a verb form, and “To began with the main reason is it has…” has an incorrect infinitive and an unclear clause structure. There are also recurring problems with articles, agreement and sentence boundaries, as in “high amount of sugar” and “In my point. is will be really beneficial.” Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check each sentence for a complete subject and verb.
