Student answer (Band 5.5)

The given assertion argues reguarding the food and drinks that contain high sugar level which is harmful for people and causes many health problems. To prevent it the major suggested idea is to increase the prices of the sugary products as it could encourage people to consume less sugar. I slightly disagree with the argued assertion as making a product more expensive to consume it not key that encourage people to consume less sugar.

Today, there are many drinks and food products introduced in the market containing high sugar level and that is causing a bad inpact on peoples health. Daibities and fatty liver are major problem that can be seen now a day in chlidern and adults due to such high calorie food materials. Hight sugar intake is a major cause of serious health problems such as obesity and tooth decay.

To make better and best precausion, The government should play a major role in this task by asking the companys that manufacture suck high level sugar drinks and food to mention the amount of sugar present in the product and label the amount to calories on the products inculdind the other ingredients which may or might effect the health of proples.

In conclusion to the assestion argued, I disagree with the suggested idea of making the sugary products more expensive to be less consumed by the people, as it is not the only key to encourage people to consume less sugar.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the issue and state a position: “I slightly disagree” because higher prices are “not key” to reducing sugar consumption. You also mention relevant health effects, including diabetes, obesity and tooth decay. However, the response only partially develops the argument: it does not explain in detail why price increases would be ineffective or offer a developed alternative. The suggestion that manufacturers label sugar and calories is relevant, but the link between clearer labels and reduced consumption needs explanation or an example. The conclusion repeats your position rather than adding support. The response is also 7 words below the required minimum, so it needs a little more development as well as additional length.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph about health effects, a paragraph proposing labelling, and a conclusion. This gives the reader a basic route through your ideas. However, progression is limited: the health-effects paragraph does not clearly lead into the labelling proposal, and the central argument about why higher prices are not effective is not developed. Linking phrases such as “To make better and best precaution” and “In conclusion” are either unclear or repetitive, while the conclusion largely restates the introduction. Improve cohesion by organising the body around reasons for your disagreement and using clear references to connect each example to your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “high sugar level,” “fatty liver,” “obesity,” “tooth decay,” and “ingredients.” This shows an attempt to discuss health and food labelling, but the range is limited and several word-choice, spelling, and collocation errors make parts difficult to understand. For example, “bad impact on peoples health” and “high calorie food materials” are not natural or precise expressions, and “precausion” does not convey your intended meaning clearly. Aim for accurate, natural phrases such as “adverse effects on public health” and “high-calorie foods.” Proofreading spelling and choosing standard collocations would make your ideas clearer and more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a relative clause in “products that contain high sugar level” and a reason clause beginning “as it could encourage people.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. For instance, “making a product more expensive to consume it not key” has an incomplete and incorrectly formed clause; “Diabities and fatty liver are major problem” has agreement problems; and the long sentence beginning “The government should play a major role” lacks clear grammatical structure. Practise forming complete clauses, checking subject–verb agreement and articles, and breaking long sentences into shorter units. This will help you express your position more accurately.
