Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify health risks, especially diabetes, and recommend government action, so the response is relevant to the topic. However, the task asks whether sugary products should be made more expensive, and your position is not consistently clear: you first argue that sugar use should be limited, then suggest increasing sales tax only if companies do not follow instructions. The discussion focuses more on sugar’s health effects and industry use than on whether higher prices would reduce consumption. The point about diabetes is relevant but needs clearer explanation and a specific example of how price changes might influence consumers. State your agreement or disagreement directly in the introduction and develop two reasons that answer the pricing question.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall structure, moving from an introduction to health effects and then a concluding recommendation. Paragraphing helps separate the main stages of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: the second paragraph moves from medicines and drinks to digestion, while the third shifts from diabetes to medical treatment and government policy. Linking phrases such as “Furthermore” and “Overall” provide some signposting, but connections between individual claims are often unclear, and repeated references to sugar do not always make the relationships explicit. Organise each body paragraph around one main reason, then explain and support it in sequence. Clearer references and transitions would make the argument easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “diabatic patient,” “sales tax,” “cultivation,” and “intervene,” which shows an attempt to discuss health and policy. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make meaning unclear, such as “limitized,” “condem the sugar product,” and “sugar cost remain low.” Spelling errors are also frequent, including “indutries,” “beverages” (written as “beveragess”/“thir”), “des eases,” and “poisen,” which can distract the reader. Aim for accurate, natural phrases such as “reduce sugar consumption,” “raise the price of sugary products,” and “impose a tax.” Proofreading spelling and choosing standard collocations would make your ideas clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, for example, “If any diabatic patient have injury his wound take more time to recover than a normal person.” This shows an effort to explain cause and effect, but complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some points harder to understand. Examples include “Sugar is one of the product,” “companies use it,” and “all the industries … used used it,” where articles, agreement, or verb forms are not controlled. Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention, as in “normal person. This deaseas.” Practise checking subject–verb agreement, singular and plural forms, and complete sentence structure. Shorter, accurate sentences would help you communicate your argument more reliably.
