Student answer (Band 5.5)

Excessive processed food and drink contains high percentage of sugar, Which increase the number of health problems. The price of sugary product should be made more expensive to decrease the number of consumer. I agree with this statement and in this essay i will show why i agreed.

Firstly, It will decrease the health problem of people. It will give a chance to improve their health who is suffering from this type of health issues due to this type of products. For example a healthy hungry is better than rich full with junk foods. however it is quick to access but if people stop consuming this type of processed food then, there health will definitely will be better than before and also it can make you a active person, free of laziness and a creative mind.

Secondly, It will decrease the number of buyer. If the price of junk food will become expensive then Middle class family can't afford it and they should think before purchasing it. However the rich will not stop here because they have more money and they can afford it. For example if sugary items become more costly then the shopkeeper also decrease the stock in the shop and gradually the same as the number consumer and then it could also be extinct from the market. However it benifitial for the consumer but the company who is producing this type of food can be collapse or can face dramatic loss.

In conclusion, I agree to the point of increasing the price and decrease the number of consumer. Which can be healthier option for the people and also they will think twice before buying due to the high rate.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that sugary products should cost more, and you give two relevant reasons—potential health benefits and reduced purchasing. The discussion of affordability for middle-income families also begins to consider how price changes may affect different groups. However, some points are not fully explained or are unclear. For instance, “a healthy hungry is better than rich full with junk foods” does not clearly support the health argument, and the claim that products could become “extinct from the market” is an overstatement without evidence. You also acknowledge that wealthier consumers may continue buying these products, but do not explore how this limits the policy’s effect. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation or a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your view. “Firstly” and “Secondly” help signal the main points, and the reader can generally follow the overall direction. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to track because several claims are joined without clear relationships. In the second body paragraph, the discussion moves from family affordability to shopkeepers reducing stock, then to companies facing losses; the links between these outcomes need explanation. Connectors such as “however” are also repeated and do not always introduce a clear contrast. Use topic sentences and more precise referencing to make each paragraph develop one main idea step by step.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “processed food,” “health problems,” “consumer,” “afford,” and “dramatic loss.” This gives you enough language to communicate your main position, but the range is limited and some word choices or combinations are inaccurate, making parts of the argument unclear. For example, “a healthy hungry” and “rich full with junk foods” do not express a clear comparison, while “the number of buyer” is not a natural phrase. Spelling and word-form errors such as “benifitial” and “consumer” where a plural is needed also affect accuracy. Aim for more precise topic vocabulary and check common collocations, such as “reduce consumption” and “healthier diet.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If the price of junk food will become expensive then…” and a relative clause in “health… who is suffering.” However, complex sentences are often not controlled accurately, and errors sometimes make relationships between ideas hard to understand. Examples include “Which increase” after the opening statement, “their health will definitely will be better,” and “the company… can be collapse.” There are also problems with agreement and sentence boundaries, as in “the number of consumer,” and the final sentence beginning “Which can be healthier option” is incomplete. Practise accurate conditionals, subject–verb agreement, articles, and complete sentence construction before adding more complexity.
