Student answer (Band 5.5)

In my opinion, Processed edibles and bevarages promotes various types of severe diseases due to the uncontrolled use of sweetener For this reason, reducing this kind of goods by making it costly is important to discourage the consumers.

Nowadays, general people are fond of junk food especially the new generation. They are not that much aware of the disadvantages of having it. These ready meals and refreshments like chips, coke, bread, chocolates, pizza, burger, soda and so on contains atrocious number of sweetening agents. Also these are made of othe ingredients wilch can have extra added sugar.

Overall, artificial sweetenings like saccharine, aspartame, neotame etc. can leads to some dangerous medical conditions (diabetes, blood pressure, obesity, joint pain, cancer and many others). Additionally these attractive comestibles are one of main reflection of malnutrition in children also make their brain less active.

Therefore, if this serious issue need to be change it should be done by reducing the attaction of these ultraprocessed food. In developed country money is the big issue and if the price of the consumed items will increase it definately impacts on selling. Customers give their thought on buying products twice. They will stop having these things.

So, to reduce the unhealthyness we need to put focus on healthy food habit instead of consuming sugar contaning foods.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You take a clear position in favour of making sugary products more expensive, and you give relevant reasons, including health risks and the possibility that higher prices will reduce purchases. However, the response only partly develops the task: the health effects are listed rather than explained, and the claim that customers will stop buying these products is not supported with an example or qualification. The discussion also shifts between sugar, artificial sweeteners, and junk food without clarifying how these relate to the question about high-sugar manufactured products. The response is 219 words, so it does not meet the required minimum of 250 words. Develop your main reasons with explanation and a specific example, and make the link between price increases and reduced sugar consumption explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable paragraph structure: it introduces your view, discusses consumption and health, explains the proposed price increase, and ends with a recommendation. Basic linking expressions such as “For this reason,” “Additionally,” and “Therefore” help show relationships between points. However, progression is limited because several ideas are presented as lists, and the connection between paragraphs is not always clear. For example, the paragraph about artificial sweeteners moves from medical conditions to children’s nutrition without explaining the link. The final paragraph introduces healthy eating but does not clearly return to whether higher prices are an effective measure. Use topic sentences and develop one connected point at a time, with clearer references to the central argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “processed,” “sweetening agents,” “malnutrition,” and “ultraprocessed food,” which shows an effort to discuss health and food policy. However, word choice and spelling errors are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less clear. Examples include “bevarages,” “atrocious number,” “main reflection of malnutrition,” and “unhealthyness”; some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “general people” and “give their thought on buying products twice.” Several terms, including “sweetener” and “sugar,” are repeated without much variation. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling; prefer precise phrases such as “a high sugar content” and “consider whether to buy the product.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple statements and some attempts at longer structures, such as “if the price … will increase it … impacts on selling,” so there is an effort to vary sentence forms. However, the range remains limited, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction occur frequently enough to affect clarity. For example, “products … promotes” should use a plural verb, while “these … contains” also has incorrect agreement. The conditional sentence about prices is difficult to follow, and “if this serious issue need to be change” has an incomplete verb construction. Some sentences also lack clear punctuation or complete grammatical structure. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and build longer sentences around a clear main clause.
