Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You state a clear disagreement in the introduction and return to it in the conclusion, so your position is identifiable. However, the response only partially addresses the central proposal: it discusses sugar as a commodity, preservatives, and organic alternatives, but does not explain directly whether making sugary products more expensive would reduce consumption or why that policy is preferable or harmful. The claim that low-priced products contain more chemicals is not clearly supported, and the organic-products point is not developed with a specific example or explanation. To strengthen the response, build two relevant reasons for your position and connect each one explicitly to the effect of price increases on consumers and health.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting points, and a conclusion. This gives it some overall organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear: the first body paragraph moves from sugar’s importance to chemicals and then to low-priced products without showing how these points support your disagreement with higher prices. Linking expressions such as “On the one hand,” “Moreover,” and “On the other hand” are used, but several connections are mechanical or inaccurate; repeated “where” does not clearly express the relationship between ideas. Improve cohesion by arranging each paragraph around one main reason, then use clear references and cause-and-effect links to explain it.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “health issues,” “preservatives,” “organic,” and “natural ingredients,” and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes ideas difficult to follow. For example, “increase the price of sugar” does not consistently refer to the task’s proposal to raise prices of sugary products, while “address to health problems” and “fullfil their daily needs” are unclear or unnatural. Spelling errors such as “ingred iants” (written as “ingred iants” in the response), “similiar,” and “fullfil” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise task vocabulary and check spelling and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, but complex constructions are often faulty, and frequent errors affect clarity. Examples include “Food and drinks contains,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “there many companies add chemical,” which is missing a grammatical structure. Articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “not an proper solution” and the inconsistent capitalisation after full stops. Some sentences are understandable, but the repeated use of “where” to join clauses often creates incomplete or awkward structures. Practise building accurate subject–verb sentences first, then add subordinate clauses with appropriate connectors such as “because,” “which,” and “although.”
