Student answer (Band 5.5)
Many eatables contain high level of sugar which leads to many health disasters. Due to this some people feel to make it more expensive so that most of the people might not buy it and consume less sugar but in my opinion it shouldn't be neccessary to let its price high.
Firstly, most of the poor people will not buy it even in their need and that could probably cause injustice among those who can buy sugar according to their will. Moreover such cheap superstores might also banned its purchase as the time passes and lower the purchase can make it extinct that could be a greater loss to sugar company hence the country will not export this product anymore which can affect globalization deeply over the time.
The second noticeable reason would be that the sugar is one of those neccessary item in food industry that most of the products are made by using sugar. It includes many cold and soft drinks and various those items who we eat on daily basis like bread and mostly jams which will definitely not be purchased by ordinary people as the sugar supply goes down the manufacturing product will also manufactured at lowest proportion and people will lack these essential products which will soon create many economical problems for example last year the price of wheat reaches at its peak in Bangladesh which cause highly damage to its economy and still they have not move out of it.
In conclusion, I therefore personally feel that increasing sugar cost will not encourage people to have less sugar instead most of people will lose many basic foods items that are essential for their health so this idea will not work it thoroughly. However government should take such affective steps that really can fix this problem out.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you disagree with making sugary products more expensive, and you give two reasons—possible unfairness to poorer consumers and effects on food production. These points are relevant, but the response only partly addresses the question because it does not explain in much detail why higher prices would fail to reduce sugar consumption or consider the health benefits that motivate the proposal. The claim that sugar could become “extinct” and that the country would stop exporting it is not convincingly supported. The example about wheat prices in Bangladesh is also only loosely connected to sugar pricing. Develop fewer points more carefully, explain the cause-and-effect links, and support them with examples directly related to sugar and health.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “Firstly” and “The second noticeable reason,” and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify your main position and supporting points. However, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because several claims are joined into long chains, such as the sequence from lower purchases to sugar becoming extinct and reduced exports. Some links between ideas are also unclear, particularly the shift from sugar prices to the wheat example. The conclusion repeats the position but introduces a broad recommendation without explaining it. Use clearer topic sentences, separate distinct steps in your reasoning, and make each example explicitly support the paragraph’s main point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “manufactured,” “consume,” “globalization,” and “essential products,” and you use some varied expressions to present reasons. However, the range is limited by repeated general wording such as “many,” “people,” and “products,” while several choices are inaccurate or unnatural: “health disasters,” “feel to make it more expensive,” and “affective steps.” Spelling errors such as “neccessary” and “economical” also reduce accuracy. These problems sometimes make the intended meaning less clear, especially in the discussion of production and exports. Build a more precise set of topic vocabulary and check collocations and word forms; for example, distinguish between sugar itself and sugary products.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “which,” “as,” and “that,” but complex structures are often faulty and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “the sugar is one of those neccessary item” has an article and plural-agreement problem, while “the manufacturing product will also manufactured” lacks a correctly formed verb. In “the price of wheat reaches at its peak … which cause,” tense and subject–verb agreement are also inconsistent. Some sentences run on through multiple clauses, making relationships between ideas unclear. Practise building accurate sentence patterns first, then combine clauses carefully; check verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation during revision.
