Student answer (Band 5.0)

Is it true that many manufactured food and drink products contain high level of sugar which causes many health problem. Some people believe that sugary products should be made more expensive to encourage people to consume less sugar. I strongly agree with this opinion

Firstly increasing the price of sugary products can encourage people to choose healthier meals.Nowadays, people should addicted to eat chocolate , cakes and soft drinks regularly. However this habit is effect their body.

Secondly higher price can help parents to think twice before they buy and they can control their children for eating sugary products. Moreover children should prepare for healthier lifestyle in their early age it will give a good health benefits.

In conclusion, I strongly agree believe sugary products should be made more expensive because it will reduce sugar consumption and a good lifestyle for everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You state a clear position—“I strongly agree”—and give relevant reasons involving healthier choices and parents limiting children’s sugar intake. However, the response addresses the task only partially: both reasons are asserted rather than explained with specific detail or a relevant example, and the conclusion mostly repeats your position. The response contains 120 words, so it is 130 words short of the 250-word minimum; 22 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. This leaves too little space to develop your argument and support it adequately. To improve, explain how higher prices might change purchasing habits, consider a possible limitation or counterargument, and include a concrete example before concluding.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body points introduced by “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the basic direction of your argument. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited, and some links between ideas are unclear. For example, “Moreover children should prepare for healthier lifestyle” does not clearly explain how this follows from parents controlling purchases. The conclusion also repeats the opening position rather than drawing the reasons together. Develop each body paragraph around one main point, explain the connection between its sentences, and use linking expressions only where they show a clear relationship. This would make the organisation more coherent and less list-like.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a small set of relevant topic words, including “sugary products,” “healthier,” “consumption,” and “lifestyle,” so the main subject is generally clear. However, the vocabulary range is limited and several noticeable word-choice or word-form errors make parts awkward to read. For example, “people should addicted to eat” does not express the intended idea naturally, while “a good health benefits” combines words incorrectly. “This habit is effect their body” also shows difficulty selecting the right expression. Build a wider set of accurate phrases for discussing diet, health, prices, and consumer behaviour, and check whether nouns, verbs, and adjectives fit their sentence roles. More precise collocations will make your reasons clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, such as the sentence beginning “Moreover children should prepare…,” but the range remains limited and attempts at more complex structures are often faulty. Errors occur in verb forms and sentence construction: “people should addicted” needs a suitable verb pattern, and “this habit is effect their body” has an incorrect verb structure. There are also problems with agreement and articles, as in “high level of sugar” and “many health problem.” These errors sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then join related ideas with conjunctions such as “because” or “which.” Check each sentence for a subject, a correctly formed verb, and appropriate singular or plural forms.
