Student answer (Band 6.5)
People have different views regarding discontinue smoking in community places. While some believe that the best thing is to introduce smoking as a unlawful in local places, others argue that this rule is not enough and that other solutions are needed. This essay will discuss both perspectives before presenting my opinion.
On the one hand, those who support the way of deter smoking in public places believe that local individuals start considering as a rule to followed by every citizen and followed very seriously in their daily life when they visit any local places. Furthermore, it creates awareness in people of not smoking in such places as it harm small children and specially elderly people.
On the other hand, supporters of other solutions are needed argue that this is not a permanent solution to discourage smoking but we have to follow many ways such as start advertising a problem against smoking so individuals come to know why it is prohibited in public places. They also believe that taking such steps people should know real mistakes and start avoiding smoking from their life.
After examining both sides of the argument, I believe that smoking is really dangerous to our health it cause breathing issues in our body. So, doing illegal in public places is a best decision and it creates positive awareness in people. A part from that, taking workshop from schools and collages is also a good thing because pupils should learn about these things in their teenage life.
In conclusion, although both viewpoints have valid arguments, I personally believe that doing discourage smoking is a good way to do smoking prohibited from community places.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'advertising a problem' is vague and lacks specific detail or examples to fully support the point. Similarly, the suggestion of workshops in schools is mentioned but not expanded upon in terms of its effectiveness. While the essay covers all requirements, the supporting arguments lack the depth and analytical rigor expected at higher bands. The conclusion is clear, but the overall development remains somewhat superficial.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'A part from that' and 'doing illegal in public places'. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing is more precise to avoid repetitive phrasing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and sophistication. There are several instances of awkward word choices or non-standard collocations, such as 'discontinue smoking' instead of 'discouraging smoking', 'introduce smoking as a unlawful', and 'taking workshop'. These errors occasionally impede the flow of the text. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary, the range is somewhat limited, and the phrasing often sounds unnatural. To improve, the student should focus on learning common collocations and more precise academic terminology.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the clarity of the writing. Examples include 'deter smoking' (should be 'deterring'), 'it cause breathing issues' (subject-verb agreement), and 'doing illegal in public places is a best decision'. Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence construction is often clunky. While the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence structure prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to verb forms and article usage is required.
