Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this contemporary world, smoking is trending in new generation in modern style terms. where young people think adapting smoking is rich people sign and few people think it is injurious to health. In this we will discuss about some people say that the best way to discourage smoking is to make smoking illegal in public places or to say that this is not enough and that other measures are needed.

On one hand, smoking is addictive to an individual. It can become an important daily activity for someone who is smoking on daily basis. Suddenly, making it illegal at public places could worsely impact their response towards the government and society as it could be an agressive response. However, smoking is injurous to health and second hand smoking is even dangerous to people who are not addaptive to it.

On other hand, Just making it illegal on public places could not help majority to quit but can make difference to secure people who gets affected just being near or around those who still coutinues everywhere. For instance, place such as aquariums, museums and theatres should not allow people to smoke as it disturbs the overall experience of the tour. Hence, not only the smokers gets limited smoking experience but also will more likely to eliminate their smoke intake for a while.

Lastly, I agree to ban smoking in crowded places as it help to protect human health due to dangerous air intake and can save them from causing health issues likes asthma, lungs failure..etc.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a clear opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention that banning smoking in public places protects health, the argument regarding 'other measures' is underdeveloped. You touch upon the idea that a ban is not enough, but you do not elaborate on what those other measures might be (e.g., education, higher taxes, or support groups). The essay remains somewhat superficial in its analysis. To reach a higher band, ensure that both sides of the argument are explored with equal depth and that your opinion is supported by more detailed reasoning or examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the logical progression is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and limited use of cohesive devices. Transitions between sentences are occasionally mechanical or unclear, such as the transition into the final paragraph. Referencing is sometimes imprecise, making it difficult to track the subject matter. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') to connect your ideas more fluidly and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that supports the overall argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and sophistication. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'trending in new generation', 'rich people sign', and 'worsely impact'. These errors occasionally impede the flow of the text. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle to use less common lexical items accurately. To improve, focus on learning collocations (words that naturally go together) and avoid literal translations from your native language. Expanding your range of academic vocabulary will help you express your ideas with greater clarity and impact.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'smokers gets'), incorrect word forms (e.g., 'injurous', 'addaptive'), and punctuation errors (e.g., 'lungs failure..etc.'). These errors are noticeable and sometimes make the text difficult to read. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of control over basic grammar limits the score. To improve, focus on proofreading your work for common errors like pluralization, verb tense consistency, and correct sentence construction.
