Student answer (Band 6.0)

There are two divided opinions for banned on smoking. One group of people agree that smoking should be illegal in public places such as in hotels, theatres and many more. While, on the other side people believe that this is not enough and additional steps are required. Before commenting on my opinion this essay will discuss both the sides in detail.

On the one hand, people who believes smoke should be banned on public places has following reasons. Firstly, it is highly effective measure for every individuals. By this I mean that, places such as restaurants, beaches, shopping centres and hotels people are highly inclined to smoke ciggarates.. If authorities banned on smoking then people will stop to smoke. Moreover, due to this there will be less chances of passive smoking. Secondly, minor age people and youngsters will not be influencing from vapes and ciggarates if other people will not smoke in punblic place.

On the other side, other additional steps are required to stop smoke. To begin with, goverments should help in this area by arranging camp or rally to educate community. Because many illitrate people unaware about its detrimental effects on their health. Furthermore, educational sectors need to give more attention in the classrooms. If the student is aware about bad effects on smoking in the human body they will also spread information in their families.

To conclude and offer my position, I supports on later viewpoint. Although, we can prohibited passive smoking and bad influences on youngsters still if the authorities and education sector help it will be more easier to stop smoking.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'educational sectors' is quite brief and lacks specific examples of how such programs would function. While the prompt is addressed, the supporting points are somewhat superficial. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your reasoning with more depth and concrete illustrations. The conclusion is present, but the language used to express your position is slightly awkward, which impacts the clarity of your overall argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other side', and 'Firstly'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. Additionally, there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'Before commenting on my opinion this essay will discuss both the sides in detail.' Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several spelling errors, such as 'ciggarates', 'punblic', and 'illitrate'. Furthermore, some word choices are unnatural or incorrect, such as 'minor age people' instead of 'young people' or 'minors', and 'banned on smoking' instead of 'a ban on smoking'. To improve, focus on learning the correct collocations for common topics and proofreading your work to catch basic spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'people who believes' (subject-verb agreement), 'will not be influencing' (incorrect passive voice), and 'it will be more easier' (double comparative). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of periods and commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and the correct use of modal verbs.
