Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 100 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay attempts to address both views, the discussion is extremely superficial and lacks the necessary depth, examples, and logical extension required for an IELTS Task 2 response. The position is stated, but the arguments are not sufficiently supported or developed. To improve, you must expand each body paragraph with specific examples, explanations, and a clear link back to the prompt. The current length is insufficient to demonstrate the ability to develop a coherent argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay uses basic paragraphing, but the lack of length prevents the development of a logical flow. Cohesive devices are minimal and somewhat repetitive (e.g., 'moreover'). The transition between the introduction and the body is abrupt. To improve, you should use a wider range of linking words and phrases to connect ideas more fluidly, such as 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' or 'in contrast.' Additionally, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that introduces the main idea, followed by supporting details, which will naturally improve the overall structure and progression of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and contains several spelling errors, such as 'MODREN ERN' (modern era), 'BURING ISSURE' (burning issue), 'CANSER' (cancer), and 'BOBY' (body). These errors, combined with the restricted range of vocabulary, make the writing appear informal and imprecise. To achieve a higher band, you need to use a more varied range of vocabulary, including less common lexical items related to the topic of public health and legislation. Focus on accurate spelling and using words in their correct collocations to convey your ideas more professionally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('it can be create canser'), article usage ('on public places' instead of 'in public places'), and sentence structure. The essay relies on simple sentence structures, and there is a lack of complex grammatical forms. To improve, you should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and then gradually incorporate complex structures like relative clauses, conditional sentences, and passive voice. Proofreading for basic errors in tense and prepositions will also help to improve your accuracy significantly.
